The way that he destroyed a field at Meydan in a 1m trip in February was hugely impressive. He was head and shoulders above the field on the day. Epic Hero wasn’t disgraced at all on a step up to Group 3 action at York last month either.

He took second place at York in that last run, so coming back down in class for this one, Epic Hero looks to have the goods to put together a very bold effort.

Montatham a big player in the Fortune Stakes

The highly appealing MONTHATHAM cannot be overlooked for this challenge at all. He is just progressing so well and he looks better and better with every run.

Heading into Wednesday’s action at Sandown, Monthaham is sitting on a hattrick.

The Willie Haggas-trained gelding has won three of his last four starts. The most recent of those happened at the 1m distance at York just last month.

He is rapidly on the up and probably isn’t going to look out of place taking on Listed company now. After three handicap scores, he’s a major player.

The one miss that he had in his last four runs, was when he claimed runner-up spot at the Royal Hunt Cup.

Top-rated Zaaki to put things together?

He returned to action with a place finish in a Group 3 run at Newbury.

Can Motakhayyel bounce back?

MOTAKHAYYEL didn’t get the run that he wanted last time out, as he was the beaten favourite, labouring home second from last at Salford in the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes.

He is a good enough horse to shake that off and bounce back though.

That misfire saw him miss a chance at a hattrick after impressively winning the Buckingham Palace Handicap and then the Bunbury Cup.

BLESS HIM has looked a little shot of quality to compete up at the Listed and Group levels this season. He hasn’t managed to put things together completely.

LAVENDER’S BLUE is one that needs some considerations in this field. She was last out at course and distance and was really in the frame for a win in the Atalanta Stakes, ending up in third after a great big. By no means is she to be totally counted out of this on the day.

POSTED was behind LAVENDER’S BLUE at the Atalanta Stakes over course and distance in her last run. That was immediately after putting in a career-best of a second-place finish in Listed action at Haydock. The winning touch doesn’t appear to be there, not at this level.
