It is a class 5 contest which is open to 3-year-olds and above.

There is a really strong favourite lining up for the contest as well, and that is Spurofthemoment who is expected to be pretty dominant.

Spurofthemoment favourite in Wolverhampton racing odds

It is a big 8/13 odds-on favouritism that Spurofthemoment is holding currently in the Wolverhampton racing odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Thursday, 2nd July 2020).

It is hard to argue with that as well.

She secured a win at Lingfield on a 6f trip in her last appearance, coming out on top in a field of 13 there.

Spurofthemoment just absolutely powered her way home and looked in top nick. She will carry an extra 6lb for that success.

It has been superb form though from her as a three-year-old, not having finished outside of the top three in three efforts.

This will be a first time effort on the Tapeta, but if the filly settles quickly then she looks as if she is going to be really hard to beat.

Can Kath’s Lustre shine to upset the favourite?

There has been some really consistent form thrown down by KATH’S LUSTRE. She looks like the really big contender to the favourite in this fixture.

Kath’s Lustre is a 9/1 option in Wolverhampton racing odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Thursday, 2nd July 2020).

The experienced 5-year-old returned from a three-month break in early June to score at Chelmsford City at 6f. She followed that up with a second-place finish at Lingfield then under a 5lb penalty.

It has been two wins in her last four races and she has been outside of the top three just once in her last six trips.

Kath’s Lustre has only had one trip before on the Tapeta and that was in October last year where she finished second from last.

But still, considering that she is up against Spurofthemoment who is making her debut on the surface, Kath’s Lustre may have appeal.

Shepherd’s Way may improve to challenge

SHEPHERD’S WAY made a nice reappearance recently when she posted a decent fourth-place finish at Wolverhampton. That was in a 5f handicap just over three weeks ago.

She has switched stables since her last effort. Shepherd’s Way did end the last campaign with a win and a runner-up spot in her final two races.

So if she comes in better for that recent trip on the Tapeta then the place claims surely have to be strong from Shepherd’s Way who is at 8/1 outright in Wolverhampton racing odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Thursday, 2nd July 2020).

Outsider Holloa may defy racing odds to show at Wolverhampton

There is an interesting 20/1 outsider in this field which is HOLLOA* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Thursday, 2nd July 2020).

Three races ago she secured a win in the all-weather at Newcastle in a field of thirteen. That was an improvement from her without question.

But then her last two efforts have seen her look a bit lost.

She returned from a 226-day break to finish second from last at Beverly in the middle of last month from 100/1.

So she has a tremendous amount to find but what will appeal is that she had delivered a couple of strong performances at the distance.

The rest of the runners

KLOPP is not showing the kind of form that makes her too likely to produce a win. She is a course and distance winner however, the only one in the field. But her last three efforts, the most recent of which saw her finish last at Newcastle in January, sends appeal elsewhere.

CHARMING SPIRIT did put in a steady sixth-place finish from a field of nine under handicap terms at Newmarket recently. That was on a 6f trip as well a couple of weeks ago. But she looks for all of the world as if she needs more to score here.

STRAWBERRY HIND has really taken a nosedive in form, having had some really poor efforts on her last two runs. She was last seen at Leicester three weeks ago when she finished last in a minor fixture. Goes into a handicap and on Tapteta for the first time.

Rounding out the field for this Wolverhampton racing preview is LITTLE RED SOCKS who is unexposed with just three racetrack appearances. She broke her maiden at the first attempt, but there has been very little on offer since.

Predictions & Tips

We can’t look past SPUROFTHEMOMENT for the win in this one as she looks to be a pretty big banker in this company.

So while we fully expect her to come up with the score, we will simply look to the w/o Spurofthemoment market.

There surely has to be all about KATH’S LUSTRE for us who are wonderfully consistent runners and can come out on top of the rest of the runners in this handicap.
