Grand National Tips 2022
In the next section of this Grand National Tips preview for the 2022 renewal, we are going to pull together our top selections for the contest.
Our betting experts have been studying the card, sizing up the current form, digging through the odds and looking back at some trends for the race.
With all that in mind, here are the Top 5 Grand National Tips for 2022. Following on from that, we will look at some longer-priced picks.
Who is the Grand National Favourite in 2022?
Can Snow Leopardess write a brilliant story at Aintree on the weekend, becoming the first mother to win the race?
The fact that she is at the head of the market currently speaks volumes and it’s not just because of market support.
Snow Leopardess has form.
It has been three wins from three by the wonderful grey mare who returned to action in 2019 after giving birth.
In December Snow Leopardess won the Becher Chase over the National fences, which is as big of a claim as she could have. She followed that with a win at Exeter in a Listed fixture.
Snow Leopardess is on a good weight and rates highly in Grand National Tips 2022.
The one thing not in her favour is that a mare hasn’t won the big race since the 1950s.
Snow Leopardess 8/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Top 5 Grand National Tips 2022
- Any Second Now
- Fiddlerontheroof
- Eclair Surf
- Longhouse Poet
- Run Wild Fred
Grand National Tips #1 – Any Second Now
Again leaning towards a runner with previous experience over the National fences, we look at Any Second Now.
He was a brilliant third-place finisher in last year’s renewal so knows what this is all about.
Any Second Now is a likeable one and his effort last year was interesting. He met so much trouble along the way, that it’s remarkable that he got third.
But he showed a cracking attitude to mount a challenge when the way ahead cleared, although he was left with too much to do.
He goes to Aintree on the back of a win at Fairyhouse six weeks ago.
With Irish winners in all but of the last five Grand National renewals, Any Second Now is a big player.
There was no appearance at the Cheltenham Festival for Any Second Now this year. He’s been targeting this Aintree return.
Any Second Now 9/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Grand National Tips #2 – Fiddlerontheroof
Fiddlerontheroof could be a great fit for the Grand National and is an interesting player in the line-up.
There is a lot to like in his form over the fences, and he opened the season with a win at Carlisle.
He has since taken back to back runners-up finishers.
However, this big marathon test looks just ideal for him and the former Grade 1 novice winner could thrive at Aintree.
He’s game and just such a consistent performer. F
rom 18 career runs, he has only failed to land a place in the top three once.
Fiddlerontheroof just seems to handle whatever is thrown at him. He could have been in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last month.
The Grand National was a bigger appeal as he wasn’t sent to Prestbury Park.
Fiddlerontheroof 12/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Grand National Tips #3 – Eclair Surf
What a headline-maker Eclair Surf would be for trainer Emma Lavelle should he get to the line first. Lavelle has only sent entries to the Grand National once before.
She nearly missed a big entry this year.
On Thursday Ecair Surf was confirmed as a place in the Grand National after having been listed as #43 of 40 runners.
There were enough withdrawals for Eclair Surf to sneak into the line up at final declarations.
The 8-year-old does have form and some big ability as well and despite just getting into the lineup, looks a threat.
The last twice he has proved himself at the marathon distance. There was a win at Warick in the Classic Chase.
Then followed a superb second-place finish at Newcastle’s Eider, with only Win My Wings (subsequent Scottish National winner) ahead of him.
Eclair Surf has to pique some interest, so he gets on the shortlist for Grand National Tips 2022.
Eclair Surf 14/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport).
Grand National Tips #4 – Longhouse Poet
There could be potential there on Saturday for Longhouse Poet who looks sure to take this marathon trip in his stride.
His connections have handled him very well, and he landed the Thyestes Handicap at Gown in January.
That was the penultimate run for Longhouse Poet and that was the path that Numbersixvalverde took for this yard on his way to winning the National.
So that’s a nice piece of form from Longhouse Poet, who reverted to the hurdles last time out.
He gave a solid account of himself in the Grade 2 hurdle, having gone as the favourite, but finished 7th of 9 as a couple of mistakes crept in.
But going back to the fences, this will have been a target and rated as dangerous. Longhouse Poet looks like a rapid improver.
Longhouse Poet 16/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Grand National Tips #5 – Run Wild Fred
The final one to get on our Top 5 Grand National Tips is Run Wild Fred who is just such a good chaser.
He could well be going places having shown some great improvement this season.
The addition of the blinkers, which he retains, has been key.
Run Wild Fred claimed a runner up spot in last year’s Irish National and backed that up with a great win at Navan on a really hot 3m handicap.
With form carrying over from the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham recently, Run Wild Fred could take this in his stride.
Run Wild Fred 18/1 Grand national Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)

The Top 3 Each Way Grand National Tips 2022
For the next section of our Grand National Tips, we are looking down the field at some of the best each-way selections.
It’s such a massively unpredictable race, the Grand National, that it is worth exploring further options for horse racing betting. Here they are.
Death Duty
Bringing some excellent each-way claims to the table is DEATH DUTH who could really spring a surprise at Aintree on the weekend.
He was a dual winner at Grade 1 in novice chasing. He brought his seasonal form forward with a win at Punchestown in February. Stamina is not in doubt and the 11-year-old can put in a good show.
Death Duty 40/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Blaklion
Veteran 13-year-old Blaklion has found a new lease of life this season as he has massively been revived.
He showed some tremendous spirit in landing back to back wins at Haydock in December, looking back to his old best.
Blaklion lost a little bit of that in pulling up on his latest, but he knows Aintree like the back of his hand having won the Becher and with a couple of top-six finishes in the National.
Blaklion 40/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport)
Fortescue
Another late entry along with Eclair Surf, there is a case to be made for Fortescue, or at least each-way claims.
He’s put together a good season and thrived when a big stamina test was asked of him at Ascot 7 weeks ago. Fortescue beat Fiddlerontheroof in the heavy mud and remains at the same mark. He could really shake things up.
Fortescue 28/1 Grand National Odds* (odds recorded 06:56 GMT on 8th April 2022 at 888Sport).
