The big fixture of Saturday’s UK horse racing is the Betfair Chase from Ascot, one of the big Grade 1 fixture of the National Hunt season.

There is a cracking field heading to the start in this one in what should be a super-competitive renewal.

There are a couple of former winners in the field with Dashel Drasher and Waiting Patiently lining up.

The Ascot Chase is a 2m 5f trip and there are eight declared runners and we take a look at each of them in our Ascot Betfair Chase betting preview.

Fakir D’oudairies 9/4 FAV in Ascot Betfair Chase Racing Odds

FAKIR D’OUDARIES should be a big player in this contest who opened his season with a win at Clonmel in November in a Grade 2.

He was last seen at Thurles a month ago, finishing second to Allaho. That particular rival beat Fakir D’oudairies in last year’s Arkle at the Festival.

Fakir D’oudairies is very consistent at this sort of tip and the conditions are going to be prime for him.

Fakir D’oudairies is the 9/4 favourite in Betfair Chase betting odds

DASHEL DRASHER
13/2

Dashel Drasher to make a defence?

DASHEL DRASHER took last year’s renewal of the Betfair Chase and could be heavily involved again.

He’s such a good competitor and was only narrowly touched off at Lingfield a month ago on his latest.

Dashel Drasher was in superb form last season and hasn’t done much wrong in this campaign either.

Dashel Drasher is a quote of 13/2 Betfair Chase odds* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on February 19th 2022 at Betfair).

Can Saint Calvados get it right?

SAINT CALVADOS is a high-class chaser and was last seen taking on the challenge of the King George VI Chase at Kempton in December.

It was a third-place finish for him in that one, but he looks a good fit for this race regardless.

That effort at Kempto was the first run that Saint Calvados had for Paul Nicholls. He will probably be well geared up for this one.

Saint Calvados is the current 7/2 second favourite* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on February 19th 2022 at Betfair).

Mister Fisher poses a threat

There was a victory for MISTER FISHER on his latest effort, which was a month ago in the Silviniaco Conti Chase.

That was a comfortable score at Kempton by him, taking down Eldorado Allen on the day.

There are perhaps a few more question marks over the jumping of Mister Fisher compared to some other top rivals.

But if he gets it alright on the day, there he has some claims.

Mister Fisher at 11/2 in Betfair Chase betting* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on February 19th 2022 at Betfair).

Fanion D’estruval not to be underestimated

Coming into action for a top yard that is in form is FANION D’ESTRUVAL which means that he can’t be written off.

There has been some excellent progress by him recently as well, winning at Newbury before taking a runner-up at course and distance last month.

Fanion D’estruval moves back up in grade and he is not without claims if he continues his upward curve.

Fanion D’estruval is at 6/1 in horse racing betting* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on February 19th 2022 at Betfair).

The rest of the runners

TWO FOR GOLD has won the last twice and he is a tough chaser. He had the beating of Dashel Drasher at Lingfield in a conditions event last time out. This is tougher and Two For Gold is 6lb worse off against that rival this time.

WAITING PATIENTLY has not gotten home the last twice. He won this race in 2018 but hasn’t won since then. He looks like a big outsider and will probably be a long way short.

LOSTINTRANSLATOIN opened the season with a win in a Grade 2 at course and distance in November.

He then went to the King George and was well held there, so he needs a bit of a revival.

Predictions & Tips for Ascot Betfair Chase Racing Odds

Our pick for the Betfair Chase is going to be DASHEL DRASHER at 13/2* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on February 19th 2022 at Betfair).

He could be a little underestimated in this one, but the return to Ascot could well see him back in the frame as he has looked as good as ever.

FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES is an obvious one for the shortlist and ran out as an easy winner at the Melling Chase last year. This is within his scope.

The final one of the shortlist is FANION D’ESTRUVAL who is on the up at the moment and has put together very strong runs the last two times.
