Reigning US Open Champion Raducanu has lost four of six matches since landing the Slam at Flushing Meadows.
As her main Australian Open warm-up, she showed up at the Sydney Classic last weekend.
Raducanu was smashed in her First Round match, losing 6-0 6-1 against Elena Rybakina.
So this is no easy match based on form, for Raducanu.
But then Sloane Stephens has not had any warm-up action ahead of the tournament.
The American has lost in the first round in five of her last six Australian Open campaigns.
Stephens reached the 2013 Australian Open semi-final but has been well below that level for a long time.
Maybe a reapperance on a big Slam stage will kick Raducanu back into gear. She looks the more likely of the two.
