Celtic News and Form

Celtic are red hot favourites to power their way through this tie, which does look pretty favourable for them. There is a reason enough to suspect that they can kill this time off in the very first leg on one home soil. In the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League Celtic claimed a 5-2 aggregate win over Sarajevo. The lack of a clean sheet in either game will perhaps be a bit of an early worry for boss Neil Lennon. This may well be an easier tie though. Celtic earned a 3-1 away win in the first leg away from home, before closing out the deal on home soil.

All five goals for Celtic in that tie against Sarajevo were scored by different players. Last season in the second qualification round, Celtic claimed a 3-1 win over Rosenborg. The reigning Scottish champions have earned a W5 L3 record in their last eight European games. In their last five on home soil, they have gone W2 L3 but they aren’t likely to be troubled too much in this one. It is tough to see anything but a home win.

Nomme Kalju News and Form

Estonia champions Kalju were one of the surprises of the first qualifying round in the Champions League. They were taking on Macedonia champions Shkendija in that tie. Kalju won through on away goals after surprisingly getting a 1-0 away win in the second leg. They are well into their season are Kalju, because their domestic league started back in March. So the Estonians are match fit if nothing else. They are on an unbeaten streak of sixteen games at home as well.

But even with that said, their title defence isn’t going that well as they are a long way behind the leaders in the Meistriliiga. They have had a lot of experience over the last ten years or so in UEFA qualifiers. The last time that they were in the qualifiers for the Champions League was back in 2013/14 and that came to an end in the third qualifying round. They are now W2 D1 L3 in their last six European games. They have won two of their last eight away European games.

Celtic v Nomme Kalju Predictions

Celtic to win: Sarajevo looked a tougher challenge than what Kalju may turn out to be for Celtic. The Scottish Champions can produce the goods on home soil and they are probably worth backing to get a clean sheet, despite some sloppy defending in their first qualifying round tie.
