Can Lalania maintain strong form?
The last trip that Lalania had was at Lingfield in January. That was a 6f trip and she took a win there by a good four lengths over a previous winner. She has landed a couple of wins on the polytrack now.
With a place at least in each of her last four runs, the five-year-old goes into this one with some big claims as the 2/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:30 on Thursday, February 6th, 2020) but does take on a 7lb rise.
Dubai Elegance is a serious contender
A second-place finish at Kempton over distance in January was Dubai Elegance’s last run. That saw her just miss out on a hattrick. Through her career, she had secured four wins from 6f to 7f and she is a course and distance winner.
That last run at Kempton saw her take a second of eight and by less than a length as well from a 8/1 mark. She is a lot shorter at 7/2 for this contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:30 on Thursday, February 6th, 2020).
Siena Mia hits winning form
Out of nowhere Siena Mia put a good win on the board in her last race. She was a 5/1 success at Newcastle over a 7f trip where she beat out Strawberryandcream by four lengths. The price of that is a 5lb hike in weight for her, which may be enough to give punters pause for thought. She could, however, be a threat if she gets up and running.
The rest of the runners
Fantastic Flyer was fifth of eleven at Kempton over 7f last time out. That was from an 11/1 SP. She has claimed five wins from 6f to 7f and she is a course and distance winner as well. That makes her a very interesting entry at 13/2 odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:30 on Thursday, February 6th, 2020) and she will take some interest.
Irene May is one of the top-rated horses in the field, but she was fourth in her last trip out at Kempton. She was a couple of places back from Lalania in the race as well. Filly Gold At Midnight didn’t really get in the mix in a 6f trip at Wolverhampton last month and just needs more experience.
Kath’s Lustre was third in her last trip which was at Lingfield over 6f. She is a pretty steady performer and has three wins at 6f on the polytrack. Her form has been solid in her last four races, not having been outside the top four and she is a course and distance winner.
Predictions & Tips
This looks like a very good contest. There are three course and distance winners with very good claims, none bigger than Dubai Elelangece who is carrying the current form.
Laalania is a very solid runner and delivered well at Lingfield in January but is facing that weight rise. So it is Dubai Elangance, who only just missed out on a hattrick and who is going off at the same mark as her run at Kempton (where she was ahead of Irene May), that gets the nod.
