There is an obviously likely threat on the horizon from YIBIR at Chester on Thursday. He is the current 13/8 favourite in Dee Stakes racing odds* (odds recorded at 21:12 GMT on May 5th, 2021 at Bet365).

He has gotten his reappearance run out of the way, taking a nice third place finish in the Sandown Classic Trial on his return.

Yibir totally crushed that one, no-one in the field getting close to touching him. This is obviously a much taller order for him to deal with.

In his juvenile season he took a couple of very good wins, a maiden at Sandown and then a Class 2 at Newbury.

Those were at the end of the campaign, so the progress was clear to see.

The cheek pieces go on for the first time for Charlie Appleby’s charge and the challenge is likely to be strong.

Ontario a threat in the Dee Stakes

Another who has had a return to action already this season is ONTARIO who looks primed for a big run for trainer Aiden O’Brien.

On his reappearance there was a place finish for him in a Newmarket handicap.

That was a shorter distance than he would prefer, but it got some competitive air into his lungs and Ontario was top weight for that as well.

As a juvenile, Ontario placed a couple of times in Group 2 contests at the Curragh and Newmarket.

Maximal should have plenty to offer

There has been a reappearance run from him this season, claiming second place at Newbury in quite a warm contest.

Maximal was taken out by a very useful one in that one, but he is entitled to progress further with the run under his belt.

There was plenty to like about his form as a two year old, winning one of four. While there are a couple of very strong ones ahead of him in the market, Maximal warrants interest.

Foxes Tales to challenge for a place?

There was just the one run from FOXES TALES as a juvenile, but he showed a lot of promise in it to claim a runner up spot.

Four months later he made his first appearance as a three year old and duly scored in a Newbury maiden.

That was 18 days ago over a 1m trip and he was up against a stiff contender in it as well, both well clear of the rest of the field.

Rest of the runners

EARLSWOOD claimed a win on his latest run, which was a reappearance in a Navan maiden. He used his experience well. The trip is likely to suit him on Thursday but this is at a much higher level.

EL DRAMA has potential as he is coming up on trip and could have potential for that one. He was third in the listed Spring Cup at Longfield on his return. El Drama has had another run since then, taking a good competitive third in a Kempton class 2.

LUTERH CEE looks to be the one who has the most to find in this contest. He gets his first run for a new yard on Thursday. He got off the mark at the third time of asking as a juvenile and could be out of his depth.

Predictions & Tips for Dee Stakes Racing Odds

This is such a strong field. Our fancy is for 4/1 shot MAXIMAL to pull through as Sir Michael Stoute’s colt has plenty to offer* (odds recorded at 21:12 GMT on May 5th, 2021 at Bet365).

There was good effort from him in the previous campaign and will be that much better for having had quite a stiff reappearance effort.

YIBIR is a massive threat and the field can’t let him dominate from the front as he will be hard to reel in. The cheekpieces being on for the first time means that even more progress could be coming from him.

The other obvious threat is ONTARIO who poses a threat coming up on trip. He’s not built for the short stuff like he was at last time out, so he is going to be seen with much greater effort in this one.
