Doncaster 14:55: William Hill offer 7/2 racing odds on Board Of Trade – 6th February 2020

Star Of Rory can challenge for Doncaster win

Horse Racing Betting

Part of Thursday’s action from Doncaster is this fascinating class 3 battle. This is a long handicap hurdle going over 3 miles. There is a big field of 11 runners heading to the start for this one and that is going to throw a nice bit of unpredictability into things. It is Board Of Trade who has just been edging favouritism in the market ahead of Star Of Rory.

Board Of Trade and Star Of Rory head the market

Just edging favouritism for the fixture is Board Of Trade who landed a second-place finish in his last run. That was in June last year at Hexham over a 2m 7f trip. So this is a competitive fixture in which to make a return in.

He has won a hurdle before and a couple of two National Hunt flat races from 1m 5f and 2m 5f. Board Of Trade hasn’t struck a win for over four years whoever but has been supported to 4/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17).

Star Of Rory is carrying more recent form without question of the two. It has been a good season for him, starting with his first victory in early March. He then took a victory at Leicester at 2m 4f in December.

His last run was at Uttoxeter on December 31st where he was second by 7l at class to Any Drama. He is a 9/2 contender for this one* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17)

Vodka All The Way

Eight-year-old Vodka All The Way took a third-place finish in his last hurdle effort. That was at Wincanton over 2m 5f in January in what was a debut run for his new stable. It wasn’t a bad trip from him.

He has won at 2m 7f over hurdles before. That was a success at Exeter in a Class 4 trip in April 2018 and is trading at 5/1 odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17).

Outsider considerations

Dubai Angel didn’t have a great trip in his last run which was at Wetherby in December. He pulled up in the race a couple out but had been a healthy 9/2 starter. Before that he did collect a victory at Wetherby in a 3m handicap hurdle, so if the latest trip can be excused, the 17/2 odds don’t look bad* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17).

Brillare Momento is another of the longer-priced options who had a decent run last time out. Her last trip was in June last year and the nine-year-old came home third. She has in her career, won four tiles at hurdle from 2m 3f to 2m 5f. The most recent of those, however, was a couple of years ago but could be a place contender in this field.

The rest of the field

There is some pretty scratchy form among the other runners. Jenkins has pulled up twice in his last three runs, while Mr Caffery who has won four hurdles up to a distance of 3m had pulled up and unseated his rider in his last two. Prabeni failed to make an impression in his last run, taking a mid-field finish from a 25/1 start.

Predictions & Tips

Star Of Rory takes the fancy for this challenge after going well at Uttoxeter on his last trip. He has gone up a couple of pounds and this will be his first crack at the 3m distance. He is well worth a look to get the better of the duel with Board Of Trade at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17).

As a longer-priced option, forgiving a misstep from Dubai Angel in his last race may offer some value at 9/1 odds* (betting odds taken from William Hill on February 5th, 2020 at 20:17).
