FC Copenhagen News and Form

Six minutes from the end of the first leg in Belgrade, Copenhagen managed to serve up an equalizer for themselves and get a 1-1 draw. So that gives them a very nice cushion of an away goal with home advantage still to come. That’s never a bad position to be in at all. They have gotten plenty of playing time under their belt already this season with action from the Danish SuperLiga. In the UEFA Champions League they started in the second round of qualification where they got the better of The New Saints 3-0 on aggregate.

This is the first Champions League campaign for Copenhagen since 2017. They do have a little bit of form behind them as well as they are undefeated in their last four Champions League games, losing just one of their last five (W3 D1 L1). They are carrying some great home form in the competition as well, which is well worth noting.

FC Copenhagen have won their last three home games in the Champions League and have suffered just one loss in their last nine on home soil W6 D2 L1. So you put that together with the positive from the first leg of this tie and they could be in very good shape.

Key-Facts – FC Coepnhangen v Red Star Belgrade

  • Red Star Belgrade are winless in six UCL road games
  • Copenhagen have lost just one of their last nine Champions League home games
  • The Danish side have won their last three UCL home fixtures

Red Star Belgrade News and Form

That was a blow for Red Star conceding an equalizer at home against their Danish opponents. They had been in a good position before that, holding something to defend for the away leg. Now they know that they have to score on the night progresses. Red Star Belgrade are W1 D1 L1 in their last three games played in all competitions.

They began their qualification quest back in the first qualifying round where they edged their way past FK Suduva 2-1 on aggregate. In the second qualifying round, they made hard work of getting past HSJ Helsinki, taking a 3-2 aggregate win in the tie after a second-leg way loss. So that leaves them with a record of W2 D2 L1 from their five European fixtures played this season.

Their away form in Europe leaves a lot to be desired though. They have posted a winless D2 L4 record in their last six Champions League away games. That includes last season’s campaign in the group stage of the competition alongside PSG, Liverpool and Napoli. But it’s not great reading for them this week as they have to head to Denmark and try to get on the scoreboard.
