Race Details

This early action from Golden Gate Fields is 1m trip on the all-weather tracks. This is a Claiming Race for at least four-year-olds.

Race Favourite

Aerial Decoy has had some near misses in recent runs, claiming second place in his last two. The five-year-old was beaten by less than a length on his last run, where he had been the 13/10 FAV at the venue. Without doubt, he has the consistency there and it surely won’t be too long before he scores again. Aerial Decoy is the 13/8 favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

Claims

Classic Champ is worth some considerations in this one, being a previous winner at the 1m trip. He was second on his last trip, just by half a length earlier in the month at Golden Gate Fields. There was plenty from that effort for him to build on and brings claims.

Herdsman is another 1m winner in this field. On his last run at the course and distance earlier in March, he was third in a field of six but that was in a higher class contest. Herdsman was almost three lengths back of the winner in that small field. He’s good enough to contend but needs a big run.

Classic Champ took a progressive step forward from last time out as he was second in a field of six from a 7/1 SP at the venue. That was on a 1m trip as well, so that will put him in the picture to a degree although he looks as if he may need to find a little more in this company.

E/W Pick

Bernardo’s Hideaway is going to bring a lot of appeal to punters in his one and the longer price the better. Sizing up the market he was 33/1 which is extremely generous* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). His current form isn’t there but he is coming back down in class for this one, a factor which is a big positive for him.

Tip

Do we lean on the consistent Aerial Decoy for this one? There is a temptation to go towards Herdsman who should be right in the mix of things. But you just know that you are not going to get a bad run from Aerial Decoy so he gets the nod.

Race Details

This is a 1m Allowance Optional Claiming Race for three-year-old Fillies. This is on the Tapeta and features a small field of six.

Race Favourite

She’s So Special is heading up the market at 6/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). She has scored in two of her last three runs. She delivered on her last run which was at a shorter 6f at the venue. She’s So Special had been the 4/5 FAV and cruised to a five-length success. Tough to oppose.

Claims

Reiwa hits the shortlist for this contest. She was second on her last run, but that was in a field of four only, so hard to gauge a lot from that. She has won over a 1m distance before and hasn’t been out of the top two in any of her last four runs. Reiwa should be there or thereabouts at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020)

Coming down in class is where Midnight Sunrise is at. She had been the 16/10 FAV on her last trip at Golden Gate Fields on a 1m trip earlier this month. She was at the back of the pack in that one behind second-placed Reiwa. So she is going to need to find more, but the potential is there.

E/W Pick

Yangtze River has big claims in this one and early 14/1 price is well worth jumping on* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). Her credentials are big here including having won three times from 5f to 1m. She scored on her last run at Golden Gate Field at distance in February. It was a convincing win and is only going to shorten more in the market.

Tip

We are going all the way out to Yangtze River who can beat the company she’s in among here. Any kind of double-figured price on her would be absolute value. She has winning form and can land a blow in this exciting fixture.

Race Details

The 22:45 from Golden Gate Fields is open to runners four-year-olds and above. This is a five and a half furlong spring on Tapeta. It’s a Claiming Race with a field of six.

Race Favourite

Clearly someone likes atmospheric Icelandic bands, as Sigur Ros is the market leader for this contest at 11/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). It is worthwhile noting that he is coming back down in class for this one. On his last run, he was a fifth of 12th in a higher contest over 5f last month at the venue. The drop in class means that he has to be respected.

Claims

My Friend Tony looks a great fit for this one. The winning experience is there at the distance, having claimed a total of seven wins from 5f to 6f. He’s back in familiar territory here and scored at 5f on that run at the venue earlier this month. He had the beating of Argosy Fleet in that race, which is notable.

We have to look then at Argosy Fleet as well after that close contest with My Friend Tony at Golden Gate Fields earlier this month. Argosy Fleet was only beaten by a head in that contest, taking second of six from 7/2. There should be a competitive battle between those, and the odds reflect that.

Sunrise Journey is the other with decent claims in this small field. He has been struggling for form however, but has won four times before on a 5f trip. He was fifth of twelve on his last run at 5f at Golden Gate Fields. Sunrise Journey can’t totally be dismissed, but not quite as strong as the others mentioned.

Tip

We are straight to My Friend Tony. While Sigur Ros has some merit in coming down in class, the form is there with the former. My Friend Tony is the only one in the line up who comes back into action after a win in their previous race. Hopefully there’s another good battle between him and Argosy Fleet and the favourite Sigur Ros may even struggle to place.

Race Details

This late race from Golden Gate Fields is a 6f Claiming Race. It goes on the Tapeta all-weather track and it is open to four-year-olds and above. The going is fast and this should be a great sprint.

Race Favourite

Potente Alba nearly scored a double on his last run. He took a second place finish at 5f at Golden Gate Fields earlier this month. That was a return to this class and he had been the 9/10 odds-on FAV for it. He was beaten by just over a length, but was a hugely promising run and the ability is there to strike back and get a win under his belt. Jockey Juan Hernandez is hot at the moment with a 50% success rate in his last eight rides.

Claims

Arno’s Mane Man looks an interesting candidate in this one. He scored as the 6/5 FAV on his last run at the venue, which was over a furlong shorter than this contest. Arno’s Mane Man had edged the gritty win by a neck. He has since switched stables and is now under Blaine D Wright who has gone 1-2 in the last fourteen days. Arno’s Mane Man is looking for a hat trick too and is a good 3/1 option* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

Circus Act comes in for his first run since March last year. So this is the kind of one to watch. ON that last run, which was at Turf Paradise at the 6f distance he was third. He is regarded as a good, solid consistent runner. It’ll be interesting to see what he brings after his lay-off and he has switched stables since. Trainer Ed Moger Jr has scored twice in his last seven.

E/W Pick

The clear each-way pick from the early prices is Country Road. He has not won for over two years, but place claims may be there. He was beaten heavily on his last run at the track, which was just a total write off.

Country Road has put together some decent form before that, however, and if he can rediscover his touch the eight-year-old can get up there. Interesting e/w claims from 14/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

Tip

We can’t look past Potente Alba here. He put in such a good run in coming up to this level on his last trip, that he has to get the nod as the pick for this Golden Gate Fields contest. The rest of the field aside from Arno’s Mane Man doesn’t look competitive enough to stop him, so we are swinging with the favourite.
