The Perfect Crown and Sun Power

So if the odds are true to form then there should be a big scrap between The Perfect Crown and Sun Power on Saturday at Lingfield.

The Perfect Crown collected a win on his last outing which was in November, taking an 8l win over Corvair. It was a superb piece of running as well.

Sun Power meanwhile, who has had far more races under his belt, hasn’t been seen since September when he was fifth at Kempton.

He had gone as the 15/8 favourite for that race as well. The notable thing is that he has won at 6f on the all-weather before. This is his first run as a gelding.

The Perfect Crown and Sun Power are the joint 9/4 favourites* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 22:08 GMT on Friday, February 28th 2020)

Malotru
5/1

Bet365

Malotru

Malotru was fifth at a run at Newbury over 6f in September last year. That was from a field of eight at the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes. He has landed two wins at 6f.

Given the kind of company that he competed against last season, then there’s reason enough to see his claims for a place at the very least from a 5/1 position* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 22:08 GMT on Friday, February 28th 2020)

Raab and Melodic Charm

Raaeb claimed a fourth-place finish in a 6f trip at Wolverhampton in December as the 5/6 favourite. He has also been a winner at the 7f distance as well which doesn’t give him bad claims at all for this contest.

Melodic charm won at Wolverhampton in August last year over a 6f trip. She then jumped right up to a class 1 one contest the following month and claimed a 4th of 7.

Rest Of the Runners

Oh Purple Reign has been out this season, taking a trip to Newcastle at 6f earlier this month. He was disappointing there though as the last of five runners.

Hector Loza is the one previous course and distance winner in the field. That success happened in August last year. He closed out last season with a 7th of 8 over in France at Maisons-Laffitte.

Amarillo Star has some solid form, not having been out of the top two in his last four trips, claiming a win in one of those. He was close on his last trip at Newcastle earlier this month, beaten by less than a length by Lord Of The Lodge. He was well ahead of Oh Purple Reign in the contest.

The Kondratiev Wave comes into the fixture on the back of a win. That was a victory at Kempton at 6f when he edged out Amarillo Star. He has been successful at a 5f and 6f on Polytrack.

Predictions & Tips

This should be a fantastic race, one of the highlights of the weekend. Is it the toss-up between the joint-favourites?

Most likely yes and of them, simply because of the commanding victory that he took at Chelmsford in November, it is The Perfect Crown that gets the nod.

Malotru shouldn’t be far out of touch at all recently coming back down in grade a bit and does warrant some serious considerations for the race.

Decent outsider claims are coming in from Kondratiev Wave and Amarilla Star.
