Impressive Brushwork leads the way
A month ago Brushwork had a run out at Newcastle and simply sauntered to an easy victory. There really wasn’t much to oppose him in all fairness and he was a 1/25 favorite to and this looks as if it is going to be a much stiffer challenge. This will be the handicap debut for a 3 year old. Heath Charnock a challenger
There is course and distance also for Heath Charnock who is a pound heavier than Brushwork for the contest. He has been successful twice on the all-weather before so has form. Last time out Chelmsford in November, he was a beaten 5-2 favourite, finishing 3rd of 13 runners. But the difference between him and Brushwork is that largely, Heath Charnock has been competing in much better company. That could make a difference when they go head to head on Friday. Others to keep on side
Big Les may just be worth keeping on side as well who has won at the distance. The 4 year old is no stranger to this kind of challenge and he took a win as 3/1 favourite in his last outing which was a shade over 5f. Because of that great win Wolverhampton he has gone up in the handicap however, carrying 5lb more than he did in his last race. The victory at Wolverhampton incidentally, was the second of the season for him.
El Hombre is a great sprinter but is impeded by the handicap. But he is a winner of six races between 5f and 6f in his career, so has some appeal. He is the highest rated horse in the field as well. Was fourth in his last outing back at Wolverhampton in September over 6f. He is a previous winner at Newcastle over 6f, back in October 2016.
