We’ll kick off the day’s racing from Newmarket with a look at this nursery. LAST SUNSET is the 13/8 market leader for the run* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

He banked a win on her debut run which was at Kempton and then struck back to back credible runners up finishes on her two races since.

Her last run was at Ascot when she was just edged out. She will have Frankie Dettori in the saddle for her handicap debut.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LOST IN SPACE has hit top form as he is sitting on a hattrick. The first of those happened at Lingfield and then here on the July course at Newmarket, so he has that under his belt.

Those were both 7f victories and he could enjoy the extra furlong. He looks to be a big threat and will go our as our pick from a 5/2 quote* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

It’s only a small five-runner field here and the other that we would have to mark with winning potential is MARK OF THE MAN.

He got himself off the mark in June in a maiden effort at Chepstow and followed that by a score in a Goodwood nursery. He hasn’t quite hit that form in his two runs since then, however.

Race Favourite

Another cracking race for the Newmarket action on Wednesday as a lot of these fillies know each other well.

BETSEY TROTTER is the current 3/1 favourite for this 6f sprint after getting a score on her last run. That was a very impressive score at Thirsk* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

It was in a big field of 20 as well, so she handled herself superbly. It has been a 6lb rise for her, but she still looks capable of being a big player in this field.

Interestingly she is now back at the same mark at which she collected an all-weather win in October. Big claims.

However, our support is going to go towards STORMY GIRL who is taking a big drop down in class to get a run here.

The last outing that she had was a Group 3 7f run and she was not disgraced there taking a sixth place finish. Prior to that she had scored in a 6f Listed run at Pontefract so that makes her a player.

She’s top weight on this handicap appearance however but looks a nice pick at 10/1* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

GALE FORCE MAYA looks to be at the point where he is starting to push on. But she warrants some credit for this one because her form has been consistent.

She has been in the frame in each of her last three runs, taking back to back runners up finishes. Last week she was at the same mark on a 6f trip and Pontefract. She could get close.

Race Favourite

The Tattersalls Stakes is one of the big races of the day from Newmarket on Wednesday.

LA BARROSA is the 5/6 favourite for it currently* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

This will be just his second racetrack appearance but he is the favourite and he is also our pick as well.

On his debut which happened at Ascot last month, the Charlie Appleby-trained La Barrosa got himself a win, looking good for every inch of it.

He doesn’t look as if he is going to be stopped by a step up in class. That was just three weeks ago and showed a fantastic temperament to get it.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

YAZMAN has delivered nothing but consistent form on his efforts so far. He hasn’t managed to add to his winning debut yet, but four of his five races since have seen him take the runner up spot.

So he hasn’t been far away from picking up a win, but at the same time frustrating enough to punters. However, a couple of his runner-up finishes have been up at Group 2.

The other that we would be interested in for this trip is VENTURA TORMENTA who is a smart colt. He collected a French Group 2 win in July.

He hasn’t not been in the same kind of shape since then in his two runs. But a decent sixth of ten at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago saw him run a lot better than on his previous race and could bring place claims.

Race Favourite

MILDENBERGER is the 5/4 strong favourite for the Rose Bowl Stakes on Thursday* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

He has won two of his last three runs, missing out on a hattrick on his last run with a second place finish in the Sagaro Stakes. That was a bold run from him there and he looks to be on top form right now.

So he brings big leading claims to the table. Mildenberger has also banked a previous win at Newmarket as well.

Even though he hasn’t been out since June’s Sagaro Stakes, he has proven himself before when coming back refreshed. He should be a player among what appears to be easier company.

But our pick for the Rose Bowl Stakes is going to be WITHHOLD at a 15/8 quote* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

He scored a win here over the July course in August in a Listed contest. He struggled a little in the Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2) but looks back in good shape with a second last time out at Salisbry a couple of weeks ago.

The other pick for the fixture would be GHOSTWATCH in this small field. He is a little bit hit and miss but he has been lightly worked.

He will need something of a bounce back performance after a below-par run in the Ebor last month at York. He perhaps doesn’t have the winning touch, but place claims should be there.

Race Favourite

It is GRAND BAZAAR who is the 10/11 race favourite for this small field handicap* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

He does look to be the pick of the bunch as he has been going in the right direction under handicap terms this season.

Grand Bazaar landed back to back wins at Windsor and Newmarket in the summer, before just being edged out by a short head when he went for his hattrick at Ascot.

He didn’t quite find the same form on his last run, which was back at Ascot last time out, but he is easily a big player in this field. It is Grand Bazaar who goes as our pick.

We are only going to look at one more contender in this 4-runner handicap. That will course and distance winner HAWRIDGE FLYER.

We will start with his last run which was at Haydock, but there were excuses there as it was only a 7-day turnaround.

Before that he had looked back to his best, or at least somewhere near with a second here at Newmarket last month.

Race Favourite

The current race favourite is FIRST WINTER at 10/11 odds-on* (betting odds taken from Coral at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020).

He is the form horse of the pack in this one and after a score at Sandown last month and only taking a 3lb rise, then he has appeal.

It has been two wins in his last three runs now after the cheek pieces made all the difference for him to get a Windsor novice success in July.

He looks to be a game challenger for trainer Charlie Appleby. The second and third that he beat at Sandown last time out have both gone on to win since. First Winter is our pick for the race.

KING RAGNAR produced a career best recently with a second place finish at Yarmouth. That was a big step forward for him.

He got himself a win with help from cheek pieces in July at Leicester and he has been in the frame on each of his three runs since then. He has a 5lb claimer on his back in Ray Dawson, so place claims are there.

SCOTTISH SUMMIT got himself off the market in August with a battle over some heavy ground at Redcar.

He was then put into a stronger contest at York which he attacked pretty well, but just didn’t have enough in the tank to get him the win.
