Kameko is the value pick for the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on Wednesday

Horse Racing Betting

Qatar Sussex Stakes odds is the big one of the day from Wednesday. This is the Group 1 Class 1 contest that the assembled crowds will be waiting for at Glorious Goodwood.

The Sussex Stakes is a contest that is open to 3 year olds plus and is one of the highlights of British flat racing.

There are 7 declared for the contest which is fought out over a 1m trip.

Among those are Classic winner Siskin and Kameko and this should be an epic race.

Last year’s winner was Too Darn Hot who won at even money (L Dettori / J H M Gosden)

Siskin 2/1 FAV in Qatar Sussex Stakes Odds

The 2/1 front runner for the Qatar Sussex Stakes odds is SISKIN* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:27 GMT on Tuesday, 28th July 2020).

Considering what the colt has produced so far, it’s hard to argue with that.

It’s five wins from five racetrack appearances. As a 2 year old he scored four of those wins including the Group 1 Phoenix at Curragh.

On his return to action as a three year old he came up trumps to win the Irish Guineas.

Siskin is likely to find the track at Goodwood to his liking as well. He has such a phenomenal turn of speed that Siskin has here.

Working in his favour too is that 6 of the last 10 Sussex Stakes renewals have been won by a 3 year old.

KAMEKO
9/2

Kameko to challenge

KAMEKO landed this year’s 2000 Guineas, getting the better of second-place Wichita who he re-opposes again.

That sent his stock sky high and Kameko is at 9/2 for this contest* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:27 GMT on Tuesday, 28th July 2020).

Following that Epsom success he went to the Derby and finished fourth, nowhere near winner Serpentine.

Kameko is probably going to be a lot happier down at the 1m trip after taking on the 12f at the Derby which looked beyond his reach at the end.

The big question for punters in Sussex Stakes odds, is has Kameko been a bit underestimated in the market?

Mohaather up for the challenge

The talented MOHAATHER is going to be well supported in this race and indeed is the 5/2 second favorite* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:27 GMT on Tuesday, 28th July 2020).

More was expected of him at the Queen Anne during the Royal Ascot festival but he tanked there a bit. But then back at the same track he delivered a very strong win in a Group 2 fixture.

Mohaather has been lightly worked but connections will know that they need something a little bit extra from him in this tough, tough field.

If he touches on the astounding run he produced to take the Summer Mile, he’ll be in this.

Circus Maximus not clowning around

On his return to action CIRCUS MAXIMUS got himself a very good win. That was at the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, beating out some of those he will be facing on Wednesday.

He was lined up in this contest last year and took the runner up spot, so with Ryan Moore in the saddle as well, Circus Maximus has to be respected among this company from a top yard.

Can Withcita push things on?

WICHITA landed second place at the 2000 Guineas this season behind Kameko on his return to action. He followed that up by going into the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

It was a similar kind of performance from Wichita there as he took third in the contest. This is a really strong field and Wichita makes up part of that.

He’s one to seriously consider if he can find that little touch of progress.

San Donato and Vatican City

There was a second place finish for SAN DONATO on his reappearance. In that he was up against Mohaather in the Summer Mile and just couldn’t get close. But that was after a long absence of over a year. How much sharper will he be?

VATICAN CITY is relatively unexposed but landed a superb second place behind Siskin at the Irish 2000 Guineas. That was without having a clean run under his belt as well. The Derby was a scratch for him, but even he should have claims at a mile.

Predictions & Tips for Qatar Sussex Stakes Racing Odds

What a field. There probably hasn’t been a better field in British flat racing this season than the one that is going to be turning out on Wednesday for the Sussex Stakes.

So where do we go? MOHAATHER looks a talented type with a stack of potential on side after his Summer Mile effort. But we can’t get past the mark against Siskin and Kameko.

SISKIN does, on all counts, look something very special. The speed that he has produced at times has been phenomenal and if he taps into that on Wednesday he will take some stopping.

But still for value, the pick for Qatar Sussex Stakes odds is going to be KAMEKO. He has to be far more comfortable back down at the mile and is likely to get very close.
