Royal Ascot Commonwealth Cup Racing Odds & Tips – 18th June 2021

Campanelle could be the way to go in competitive Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot on Friday

Horse Racing Betting

Commonwealth Cup Racing odds looks at the first of two Group 1 Coronation Stakes from Royal Ascot on Friday.

It’s the penultimate day of the famous racing Festival and this 6f sprint could be a cracker.

There isn’t much to choose between SUESA and CAMPANELLE in the Commonwealth Cup racing odds market.

Will it be one of those two who post the win from the field of 21 declared runners? The Commonwealth Cup is open to 3-year-olds only.

Suesa joint favourite in Commonwealth Cup Odds

As one of the 4/1 joint-favourites in Commonwealth Cup odds at Royal Ascot, SUESA is expected to produce a big challenge* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

It has been an undefeated career from her so far, all of those wins coming at Chantilly. So will she have the same impact on her UK debut?

A couple of those were Group 3 successes and a bit of form has been franked since then as well. So there are naturally strong claims here from Suesa.

She has been in flying form and the move to Group 1 looks to be well within her range. She is definitely a big player.

Campanelle in with a big shout

The other joint 4/1 favourite is CAMPANELLE for Commonwealth Cup Odds* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

There was a success at last year’s Royal Ascot for her as she picked up the Queen Mary at 5f. Since then she has gone on to score at Group 1.

That happened in the Prix Morny at Deauville, which completed a hattrick for the start of her career. There was a poor effort from Campanelle on a bid for a four-timer.

It was a fourth-place finish for her in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland on a 1m trip. This Coronation Stakes has been a big goal for her, however.

Frankie Dettori is back in the saddle and that looks like a wonderfully strong partnership and the move back to 6f looks ideal for Campenelle.

Can Method get in the frame?

There was a fifth-place finish for METHOD on her reappearance run. That was in the Sandy Lane Stakes, an encouraging enough run to open the season with.

Method was up at Group 3 for his final run of the previous campaign and took second place. The shorter trip in that one didn’t suit him.

Last season Method picked up back to back sprint wins and remains of interest.

There should be decent each-way claims there from 25/1 in Royal Ascot betting* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

Last 6 Commonwealth Cup Winners

  • 2020 – Golden Horde, C G Cox, A Kirby, 5/1
  • 2019 – Advertise, M Meade, L Dettori, 8/1
  • 2018 – Eqtidaar, Sir Michael Stoute, Jim Crowley, 12/1
  • 2017 – Caravaggio, A P O’Brien, R L Moore, 5/6
  • 2016 – Quiet Reflection, K Burke, D Costello, 7/4
  • 2015 – Muhaarar, C Hills, Dane O’Neill, 10/1

Does Measure of Magic have it at this grade?

A very interesting player in this Commonwealth Cup field is MEASURE OF MAGIC. He is a 12/1 shot* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

It has been a profitable season for her so far, winning her two efforts for the campaign.

She has really stepped forward with her form this year, taking wins at Navan and Cork. There was plenty to spare as well in her latest score which was 42 days ago.

She is well on the up and well worth keeping onside for the shortlist. This is a bigger test for her up at this grade.

But with the current form thriving, connections look to be making the right move for her.

Can Dragon Symbol storm the field at Ascot?

There has been nothing but consistent improvement delivered by DRAGON SYMBOL so far.

He won his first four starts and looks like a big player in Commonwealth Cup racing odds at Royal Ascot for a quote of 7/1* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

Dragon Symbol was not far away from making it a five-timer either as he was only beaten by a nose last time out.

That was in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock (Group 2) and he had Method behind him. That form sees Dragon Symbol highly respected for Friday’s bid at Royal Ascot.

Others to note

DILIGENT HARRY comes up in class for his turf debut. It’s been fine stuff on the AW for him, winning three of four efforts. His one defeat was by a short head against Rohaan who recently got the better of Dragon Symbol.

The form for JUMBY isn’t bad at all. He claimed an Ascot victory on his debut last year and on his second go of this campaign scored at Newmarket. Bigger questions will be asked, however.

SUPREMACY gets the blinders on for the first time. He was flourishing as a juvenile, but a poor reappearance in the Pavilion Stakes will have concerned connections. A bounce-back is not totally out of the question.

ISABELLA GILES is no stranger to Group 1 company. She was in cracking form as a juvenile. She has levelled off a little as a 3-year-old but knows her way around sterner contests.

SACRED isn’t without a shout here. She took a pass on the 1000 Guineas and this Coronation Stakes looks far more suitable for her. A win in the Nell Gwyn at Newmarket on her appearance gives her a chance.

Predictions & Tips for Commonwealth Cup Racing Odds

Of the front runners for this contest, we are going with CAMPANELLE at 4/1* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).

She has been at Group 1 before successfully and we think that just gives her the edge in this one with Frank Dettori back in the saddle.

SUESA is a huge threat based on her form in France and should be well in the mix on her Group 1 debut here.

DRAGON SYMBOL looks to have enough to get into this, despite losing his undefeated record at Haydock last time out. He’s progressive enough to show.

Our final selection is MEASURE OF MAGIC who is tried out in this company for the first time.

She had plenty in hand last time out to suggest that she can step up in grade and is a 12/1 selection for Commonwealth Cup odd* (odds recorded at 18:04 GMT on June 17th, 2021 at Coral).
