Can Fiddlerontheroof secure the Sandown success?

A course and distance winner, Colin Tizzard’s Fiddlerontheroof is at 2/1*(betting odds taken from bet365 on January 3rd, 2019 at 5:24 pm) for this showpiece. That course and distance win happened in his last hurdle race back in December on heavy going. He crushed Arrivederci by seven lengths on the day.

The six-year-old has won at 2m in hurdle and NH flat racing as well. In his five efforts in 2019, he hasn’t been outside of the top two, having collected a win at Navan in March to go with his Sandown success. Fiddlerontheroof ran in Class 1 company for the first time in October and he was 2nd of 9.

Does either Son Of Camas or Hang In There have enough to challenge?

Nicky Henderson’s Son Of Camas is carrying form as well and he will be looking for his third straight success. The French runner is a distance winner and struck success on his maiden Hurdle at Newbury over 2 miles. That was in November last year and his last outing. That’s two wins he has collected at Newbury this season. This is a step up in class for him, however, unlike it is for Fiddlerontheroof, but goes at 11/4 second-favouirte*(betting odds taken from bet365 on January 3rd, 2019 at 5:24 pm)

Hang In There is another horse that is carrying great form at the moment as well, having secured back to back wins. He is another distance winner and his last effort produced a victory at Cheltenham at the 2m distance in the Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle. His other win this season happened at Exeter and he is in good shape. His back to back wins were a great response to having unseated his rider in October.

Outside hopefuls

Silver Hallmark collected a win at Chepstow in November on his maiden hurdle from a mark of 7/2. That’s obviously had a knock-on effect as he will be a couple of notches higher in the weights for this one. That followed up on a third-place finish that he took on his debut at Newbury back in March in a NH flat race (Class 5). Jeremy’s Flame doesn’t quite look to have enough in her to come good in this one after being exposed in recent run-outs.

Predictions

Fiddlerontheroof has looked more than comfortable in the higher class company and he was very impressive at Course and Distance last time out. There should be more to come from him. Son Of Camas shaped up well at Newbury while Hang In There’s win over Pacify recently leaves him as a strong challenger. But it’s the favourite who stacks up the appeal.

Bet365 ITV Racing 4/1 Offer

Some of Saturday’s action from Sandown is being broadcast by ITV, including this race. So it will fall into the Bet365 4/1 Winner Offer. Therefore if you back a winner of at least 4/1 odds then you will be able to play a wager to the same stake (up to £50) on the next race broadcast live.
If that following selection loses, you will get a stake refunded.

The Bet365 offer applies to the FIRST single bet placed by a customer on each race shown live on ITV Racing. If the following bet were to also win at odds of 4/1 then the offer would roll on to the next qualifying race until the winning sequence at those minimum odds is broken. At that point, you would still end up with the receipt of a refund.
