Honey Gg edging favouritism

There is some form for filly Honey Gg who has won over a 5f distance before. So this is going to be right in her wheelhouse. The 4-year-old is the highest-ranked horse in the field and goes at a disadvantage of at least 2lbs over the rest of the field. Last time out she was beaten into second at course and distance back in November by Young Tiger in a big field.

Can Catapult challenge?

4-year-old Catapult has similar form to that of Honey Gg, notably winning three times over a distance of at least 5f. He is at a far more favourable weight than the favourite is and despite being a beaten favourite last time out, he was fourth from 4/1 at a distance of 6f, and this may be just the shorter trip he needs. Given that Catapult has won three times this season and is a course and distance winner, jockey Josephine Gordon may get him in the frame at a healthy 7/1 quote* ( Betting odds taken from Ladbrokes on December 4th, 2019 at 11:44 am)

Arzaak being backed

There has been decent support for Ireland’s Arzaak in the race. This is another course and distance winner, so knows what this is all about. But 5-year-old Arzaak hasn’t quite hit the form that some of the other main contenders for this race have done. That’s despite having clocked up five wins at 5f. His last race was over course and distance and only trailed in sixth, a race in which Honey Gg unseated her rider.

Other contenders

Loulin is towards the head of the market and has taken course and distance before. But considering that he is lining up against both Arzaak and Honey Gg who notably have the beating of him, he may struggle to find himself in the frame. Eesha Says took a win in her renewal (after missing an entire year) and it was some victory as well. She claimed a course and distance win back in September at 66/1 which looked no fluke. She has an amateur on her back, to give her a great handicap as well. Other course and distances winners are Moneta and Classic Pursuit.
