MEGALLAN looks as if he is going to take some knocking over in this one after a runner up spot on his reappearance at Newmarket last month.

That defeat in the Group 3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes was no disgrace against Group 1 performer Master Of The Seas.

The one concern for Megallan in this small field is that he concedes 7lb to rival Solid Stone.

SOLID STONE with the weights firmly in his famous may have a chance of overturning form against Magellan.

He is 7lb better off against that rival for this meeting.

Solid Stone was beaten by a length by Megallan in August last year.

He did come on well at the end of last season in Group company, winning his final two runs of the season. His record from fresh is handy too.

MAJESTIC DAWN comes up in class for his reappearance and may have a little to find for win purposes.

He’s a good one and looked impressive scoring in a Salisbury handicap in the autumn. He faces two classy rivals in this one, however.

Tip: MAGELLAN Evens

Ones to watch: Solid Stone 2/1, Majestic Dawn 11/2

COLTRANE took a runner up spot on the all-weather last time out. That was 55 days ago at Kempton on a 2m trip.

So he comes up further in distance on the switch to the turf on Friday. Coltrane warrants some respect in a competitive field.

SOLENT GATEWAY was third on his reappearance run, which was also a new yard debut.

Luck wasn’t quite on his side in that one. There was a victory for Solent Gateway at Chester last summer.

He stays at the same mark as his reappearance as he takes on this sort of distance for the first time. Solent Gateway looks like being a big player.

ARCADIAN SUNRISE is another that may feature in this one as he looks to build on the good times that he had in 2021.

He looks to be on a very fair mark which gives him a big chance.

This is a reappearance run for Arcadian Sunrise, if connections have him tuned up then he’s a threat.

Tip: COLTRANE 13/2

Ones to watch: Solent Gateway 9/2, Arcadian Sunrise 15/2

THUNDER LEGEND returns to action looking to add to a win he picked up on the final run of his juvenile campaign.

That was recorded at Hamilton in August.

Since then he has moved to Willie Haggas for whom he will have his first run on Friday.

Thunder Legend looks a good sort with a good finish in him. There could be plenty there in handicapping.

SAGA warrants respect in this contest as he landed a course and distance win to get off the mark on his final effort as a 2-year-old.

There was even better form on his reappearance when he took second at Kempton in a conditions race three weeks ago.

Saga makes his handicap debut, is match sharp and looks to be a huge threat in this contest.

TYLOS is the final selection having shaped fairly well on his reappearance run, despite not getting in the frame.

He claimed a novice win at Wolverhampton last August and there looks to be decent potential there to be unlocked.

Tip: SAGA 9/4

Ones to watch: Thunder Legend 5/2, Tylos 11/2

ZAMEKA gets the visor on for the first time at Ascot on Friday and looks to be well in the frame.

He is well handicapped and if he can apply himself on the turf, there are claims.

Zameka scored at Wolverhampton in January on his penultimate run.

The follow up was a third-place finish on his handicap debut at Lingfield three weeks ago.

JUSTCALLMEPETE hasn’t done a lot wrong the last two times and is starting to deliver on some of his early promises.

There was a victory for him on his penultimate run, landing the win at Southwell in March. His follow up was even better.

Justcallmepete showed greater form in landing a runner up at Windsor 11 days ago after not being well placed.

WATCHYA scored at Wolverhampton in April to get off the mark and form from that one could see him feature.

More will be demanded as he comes up 8lb for that success and this is a tougher race.

But he’s unexposed and that latest run showed big progress by him.

FOXY RASCAL is an interesting one from a longer quote in horse racing odds.

She brings form to the table after a superb runner up spot at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago.

Foxy Rascal has been nothing but impressive this season and goes with the cheekpieces for the first time along with a 2lb rise.

Tip: JUSTCALLMEPETE 7/2

Ones to watch: Watch 9/1, Foxy Rascal 16/1

MINE’S A DOUBLE couldn’t defend his unbeaten record on his reappearance run.

He took fifth at Newbury on his return in April. It’s far too early to write him off after he won all three runs last term, completing a hattrick at Ascot.

The move to the 6f trip could well help get back in the frame as he drops 1lb for this one as well.

MANY A STAR is the other big player in this one, especially if he is allowed to get to the front and boss things.

He went very well from the front at Goodwood last week which gives him a chance.

Many A Star is 6lb lower than he was when he laboured home in 11th in last year’s renewal of this.

SILVER SAMURAI can be excused for his last run and brings some place claims to the table here.

His season opener was good, showing some progress to take the runner up spot at Kempton on a 7f trip.

Further progress will be needed for win purposes but is likely to give a good account of himself.

Tip: MINE’S A DOUBLE 2/1

Ones to watch: Many A Star 4/1, Silver Samurai 10/1

JAY BEE WHY had an excellent time of things over the hurdles last year, winning two of four.

The move to the fences didn’t pan out for him.

But he’s looked sharper having been moved back to the smaller stuff the last twice. Jay Bee Why should be involved.

DANNY WHiZZBANG took a victory in a handicap hurdle last month, which was over the fences.

On his penultimate run, he took a runner up spot from a career-low mark at Exeter. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t be involved.

ART APPROVAL wasn’t at his best at Kempton on his latest run, which was in March, but is worth another look.

He scored at Cheltenham in November and followed up well in defeat on his substitute too.

Art Approval has shown plenty so far around the 3m trip to get in this.

Tip: JAY BEE WHY 11/4

Ones to watch: Danny Whizzbang 11/2, Art Approval 11/2
