The waters are a little calmer today for horse racing tips, as we visit Musselburgh and Plumpton for our picks of the day.

We start the day of tips at this very small field at Plumpton.

The race favourite is STRATAGEM at even money* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020). That’s not a bad quote from a field of three.

This will be the third race of the season for Paul Nicholls’ gelding who didn’t really produce anything of note on his Cheltenham reappearance.

But then when he was moved to fences almost a month later, he went well with his jumping form and rattled the crossbar with a runners-up place.

It could have been the run that Stratagem needed to shake himself up.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

EDWARDSTONE made his appearance at Cheltenham three weeks ago. He claimed a reasonable enough fifth-place finish in the Greatwood there.

Last season he did show well over the hurdles and looks strong enough to make a comfortable switch to the fences.

THEBANNERKINGREBEL opened his account for the season with a sixth-place finish in the Welsh Champion Hurdle.

He impressively went very well for a long way in that race, almost building on the three hurdle wins that he took last season.

MIDNIGHTREFLECTION is a strong market leader at 6/4 for this Mares’ Handicap Hurdle* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020).

She has been close a couple of times already this season.

Midnight reflection is 3lb higher than her second place at Ascot 16 days, which was her third run of the new season.

That was after a very tough run at Wincanton which can be excused.

If the five-year-old is anywhere near the level that she ran at Ascot, she should be in the frame.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

HAWTHORN COTTAGE may be worth a look after scoring at the venue in February.

She was last seen out at Cheltenham over a 2m 5f trip last month in a competitive fixture.

The big question mark will be over how well he handles this staying distance.

DING DING is a big favourite of Plumpton having won here six times before.

With a reappearance run under her belt already then that should sharpen her up well.

Ding Ding is running off of a competitive mark here and could have a reasonable shout.

PRESENT CHIEF is heading up the market for this Musselburgh contest at 5/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020).

There have been two wins from four runs this season by him.

He missed out on a hat-trick on his last run but nevertheless scored a fourth-place finish in a strong Newbury run.

Present Chief has come on leaps and bounds since the switch to handicapping and should be a player in this field for trainer Jonjo O’Neill.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

NO REGRETS brings some excellent form to the table in this one. He missed out on a hat-trick on his last run.

But he lost nothing in finding only one too good at Carlisle on his last run. That was in October.

There has been a 5lb rise for him and he’s unproven over the distance, but No Regrets looks a lively prospect to enjoy the trip.

We would also fancy a look at WEATHER FRONT for the action in this one.

He was out at Cheltenham for his most recent run. Weather Front collected a fifth-place finish in that fixture, but he travelled very well in it.

He had the cheekpieces on for the first time in that last race and retains them.

Weather Front is not out of the picture at all.

We have SIROP DE MENTHE as the race favourite for this fixture at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020).

He was a faller on his most recent trip on an outing at Ffos Las three weeks ago.

He would have been in the frame for the victory had that not happened.

Sirop De Menthe is a big course player with figures of 5122 here at Plumpton. Another strong performance is expected from him on return.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DANTE’S VIEW is a consistent sort but lets himself down now and again. He is coming up in trip for this one and he does have the cheekpieces.

There has been a fourth-place finish from him on each of his last four runs.

The most recent of those was a hurdles effort at Exeter last month. Dante’s View has place claims and wears the cheekpieces for the first time.

The other one mentioned for the shortlist will be THIBAULT. If all is well enough with him, we can see him making his presence felt.

The last action in National Hunt that he had was in September when he claimed third in a Hunting chase.

The last win that he put on the board was back in 2018.

It has been mixed form from him in this campaign and he is tried with the visor on for the first time.

This will be his first run since a go at Hexham in a chase last month. Shanroe Street unseated his rider in that one due to poor jumping.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

TOKARAMORE is worth a look in this one because of having fallen down the weights.

There was a sign that he is knocking on the door of producing something when he took a runner up spot at Newcastle recently.

That was a much-improved performance and puts Tokaramore on the radar.

The other selection for the shortlist will be DALLAS COWBOY. His two runs this season have been nothing to write home about.

But the first of those was after 11 months away and he’s looked like he needed the effort. He signed off in 2019 with back to back wins. He could feature.

Heading up the market for this handicap chase is IVILNOBLE at 7/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020).

He pulled up on his first start of the new campaign and didn’t really kick things on in his second effort.

That was at Ascot where he was well held after making mistakes. He was in it for a while, but visibly weakened a fair way from home.

He should find the going a little easier in these calmer waters, but he is yet to see the form that he was in during March this year.

RUMBLE B is going to be our selection for this contest at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:50 GMT on Sunday, 6th December 2020).

He may well have gone on to score when he was last seen at Fakenham. His day was undone by a fall, but there is plenty of promise there.

A clear round and he will be in this.

We would select BALLYMAGROARTY BOY as the other for the shortlist. He has been carrying good consistent form over the fences lately.

In his penultimate run, he went close, earning a second-place finish.

He followed that up at Hexham where he did make mistakes having the visor on for the first time, but could go better.
