Today’s horse racing tips feature more of the action coming from Salisbury, which has another of the midweek highlights.

Thursday sees the running of the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes from the venue.

Along with a pick for that one and other fixtures from Salisbury, we head over to Lingfield for selections from the next round of the Racing League.

So here are the best of today’s horse racing tips for Thursday, 11th August 2022.

All times listed are GMT.

MODERN NEWS is heading up the market in this small renewal of the Sovereign Stakes on Wednesday.

He is one of four runners entered for the fixture and Modern News looks the one to beat. Earlier this season he took back-to-back wins.

That was the Spring Cup at Newbury and then landed a Listed contest at Windsor at 1m.

Modern News was tried at Group 3 after that and ran with credit to take a runners-up spot.

He perhaps wasn’t at his sharpest in a Listed Pontefract run three weeks ago, but Charlie Appleby’s gelding looks the way to go.

TEMPUS found a winning touch again with a score at Ascot three weeks ago.

That followed an eye-catching third-place finish in the Royal Hunt Cup.

But earlier this campaign he was comfortably held at bay by Modern News.

It’ll be interesting to see how he fares against that rival once again, as Tempus is in better form currently.

SINJAARI claimed a Sandown score on a 1m trip last month, seeing off a competitive field.

After failing to land a win last year, that will have come as some relief. Sinjaari was out of the picture at Glorious Goodwood and should be at home in this company.

Rounding out the card is BERKSHIRE SHADOW and seems to slowly but surely be heading in the right direction.

The question mark over him will be a poor show in a Group 3 at Goodwood last time out.

Tip: Modern News 11/10

Ones to watch: Tempus 7/2, Sinjaari 6/1, Berkshire Shadow 11/4

SEA ON TIME has not put a foot wrong early in her career, which only started back in May.

She opened with a runners-up spot on her debut and then really kicked on to take back-to-back victories.

Sea On Time steps into her handicap debut and rates as a massive danger in this contest.

She’ll likely be going on to much bigger things.

DAL MALLART has had a great campaign, winning three of six runs, and those victories have all come inside her last four efforts.

The most recent of those was at Sandown three weeks ago.

Dal Mallart comes up on the trip and is likely going to keep improving rapidly.

PERIPATETIC got off the mark at the second time of asking as a 2-year-old but hasn’t added a victory since.

She was a credible fourth at Goodwood a couple of weeks ago. The extra distance looks like being a positive move.

Tip: SEA ON TIME 11/10

Ones to watch: Dal Mallart 6/4, Peripatetic 4/1

COMMANDMENT has really run into some brilliant connections and should be in the thick of the action.

There was a win at Pontefract in June from her at this 6f trip, which was a minor event.

It’s been back-to-back third-place finishes since then.

The latest was a good credible one at course and distance just last week. Commandment stays at the same mark, so rates as a big danger with William Buick on board.

SILENT FLAME won last year’s renewal of this content and there is a case to be made for her.

She clearly likes Salisbury and there has been positive form by her this season.

Silent Flame took a win at Newbury in June and was only just touched off at Leicester on her penultimate run.

SARAH’S VERSE is the final racing tip on the shortlist for this fillies handicap on Thursday.

She should be comfortable moving back to 6f. But she will be under a 5lb penalty for having scored at Windsor 10 days ago. Sarah’s Verse does, however, still look like a big threat.

Tip: SARAH’s VERSE 9/2

Ones to watch: Commandment 5/2, Silent Flame 5/1

ROYAL AVIATION has shown plenty of progress as a 3-year-old and back in the spring took handicap scores at Kempton and Windsor.

Since the latest of those victories, Royal Aviation has been in the places in each of his last three.

He went well here at Lingfield last time out to finish third on a 1m trip.

Royal Aviation moves up in trip here and could still feature given how much consistency he has found in this campaign.

CUBANA HABANA won at the second time of asking, which was a victory at Hamilton.

He was touched off in a minor event at Thirsk on his follow-up. Cubana Habana is very interesting for racing tips coming into his handicap debut.

THEY DON’T KNOW has had a great season, with the only thing missing being a win.

He has finished as the runner-up in four of his five efforts this season.

They Don’t Know was close at Kempton last time out and the winner of that contest has since gone on to land a couple more scores.

Tip: THEY DON’T KNOW 7/1

Ones to watch: Cubana Habana 11/2, Royal Aviation 9/2

JEWEL MAKER could easily be going to Lingfield on Thursday having completed a hattrick.

On his penultimate run Jewel Maker was unlucky in having to settle for a runner-up spot. But he made no mistake next time out.

There was a win four days ago at Haydock posted by him, the second win in his last four runs. Jewel Maker is unexposed on this trip, but can’t be ignored.

TREGONY went well last time out, posting a second place finish in a handicap at Sandown at the 10f trip.

The pace looks as if it will be nice and warm on Thursday, boosting the claims of Tregony.

She was a five-time winner last season and Saffie Osborne knocked off 3lb in the saddle.

JEAN BAPTISTE has to be in the remaining for this Racing League fixture with some great form posted recently.

He was third last time out at Doncaster in a handicap, missing the chance of a hattrick in the contest.

It is not likely that he will be far away in this competitive fixture.

GROUP ONE POWER has taken a place finish on each of his last three runs and therefore brings some solid claims.

He’s proven to be a tad hit-and-miss and hasn’t won this year.

But he has just been in a much better mood recently so place claims could be there.

Tip: JEWEL MAKER 6/1

Ones to watch: Tregony 7/1, Jean Baptiste 6/1

STORM CASTLE landed a win at Chelmsford City a month ago, taking the line in a maiden.

That was a fair chunk of progress from him. He could have more to come as he is put into handicapping for the first time on a fair mark.

NEANDRA has won two of her three efforts this season, and warrants respect in this contest on Thursday.

Those two wins were both produced here at Lingfield, and the most recent of those was three weeks ago at course and distance.

SOPHOSC should be competitive again as it has been a good consistent season from him.

He was rewarded for all of that solid form with a score at Newbury in a 1m handicap in July.

Sophosc hasn’t been out of the top three places in any of his last five efforts and therefore warrants each-way respect.

Tip: STORM CASTLE 7/2

Ones to watch: Neandra 7/2, Sophos 16/1
