The race favourite for this Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle is FIRST LORD DE CUET at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

This will be the third run of the season for David Pipe’s gelding. He has gone well in both appearances so far.

The most recent of those was a two and a half mile trip at Sandown 11 days ago. It was a second place finish that he took, building on a third place that he had landed on his reappearance.

He will be carrying a 7lb claimer and First Lord De Cuet will also have the cheek pieces for the first time.

He looks as if he will enjoy the extra trip as well as he looks to return to winning ways.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Following a win over the fences at Fontwell last month, COOLANLY could pose a threat in this fixture.

That win happened on his reappearance for the season, which was seven weeks ago. He does look to be sitting on a very handy mark, so he should be competitive back over the smaller stuff.

GLINGER FLAME could offer something for supporters as well in this contest. He will have the cheek pieces on as he looks to build on a reappearance victory.

Glinger Flame picked off the field in a two and a half mile Hexham handicap on that latest run. That was the fifth score in his last seven runs so Glinger Flame is well worth a look.

There was a win for Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding on his last trip.

That was a score at this distance at Fakenham and the cost of success there has been a 12lb rise in the rating.

That was just the second time that he was in action under handicapping terms and he went very well.

It was a 14 length victory that he took so he may well be able to defy that rating rise.

BUCKHORN GEROGE does look to have some claims here after having collected a good second place finish on reappearance run.

That was at Plumpton on his handicap debut, so he looks likely to enter calculations.

In his final run of last season he produced a course and distance win in a maiden, He came back into action after just 17 days.

The other selection for the shortlist is KISSESFORKATIE who may be worth revisiting.

The mare has had a reappearance run under her belt, but didn’t go particularly well in it. She was a bit below form and perhaps just needed the run.

We are looking back at her form at the end of last season which suggests that she could have something there.

He was in brilliant form last season, singing off the campaign with a victory.

That was at Taunton in March and it was earned by a wide margin of 11 lengths as well.

That was his first time under rules and it was such an impressive run.

The larger obstacles don’t look as if they are going to trip Muckamore up here and he opens at a super competitive mark as well.

BALLYHOME is always a good fit for Market Rasen as he has proven before with course and distance success.

His last run was here at the venue over the hurdles at the same mark as he is for Thursday over the bigger stuff.

It was a second place finish from him in that one last month and he has to enter calculations.

Ballyhome is the obvious one to oppose the favourite with at 7/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

Rounding out our selections here will be NO GETAWAY on his reappearance run for David Skelton.

He was last seen in March on a slightly shorter trip at Doncaster.

It was second place finish from him here, just two races after he had scored a hurdles win. He is not to be dismissed on his return.

There has been strong form laid down by Kim Bailey’s gelding this season.

He opened with a victory for the campaign at Ffos Las in October over a shorter 2m trip. That was the first run since wind surgery for him.

Then on his next run he chased home Bathiva, albeit 11 lengths back of the winner over a 2m Huntingdon in early November.

The six year old stays at the same mark for more chase again and he will be expected to be in the frame.

EARTH LEADER looks to be a genuine strong challenger here. He returned to action last month for a trip at Taunton and didn’t quite get a solid run together.

Although he claimed fifth place finish there, he had burned himself out far too quickly in the 2m 7f contest. That was his first run for Harry Fry.

The drop in drip and a controlled run has to see him bring strong claims.

We are actually going to skip both and make BRIDLE LOANAN our pick at 5/1 for Gary Moore* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

He posted a win right at the end of the last campaign. It was a victory in just his second chase coming at Lingfield in January.

It’s been a sizable break, but huge claims are there on a fair mark.

THE TRADER is a clear even money favourite for this trip at Newcastle* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

After opening with a win this season, which was back in June at Newmarket, he has been in the frame twice more.

On his two subsequent trips following that win, The Trader has taken back to back third place finish.

His last run was at Ripon where he put in a credible effort in July.

Following a nice break there are claims there because he has been improving all the time.

STARGAZER looks to be the one most likely to cause The Trader some problems in this contest.

He is coming back to the all-weather for the first time since April last year when he was at this venue.

At the time he produced a career best score in the test fixture.

Stargazer was struggling to find himself on early efforts this season, but he’s come good with a win at Haydock in September.

Stargazer then had a down day at Doncaster but it’s the switch to all-weather again that gives him big claims.

The same can be said for AMAZING RED who could benefit from switching back to the artificial stuff.

He has been struggling to get to his top gear this season.

He was last seen finishing in the middle of the pack at Doncaster a month ago. He’s not a bad runner under handicapping, but needs a big swing of form.

There was a good effort from him last time out as he claimed a second place at Sedgefield.

He was pretty solid over the fences and that last run was his first attempt over the bigger stuff.

So there was promise of more to come from him. Outcrop is only rated 1lb higher for this contest now, and he looks to be a key player.

FORT DE L’OCEAN looks slightly the stronger option to us. He was in hurdles action recently at Ludlow where he took a second place finish.

Reverting to the fences he looks a threat with a 5lb claimer on his back.

Fort De L’Ocean also gets the cheek pieces on for the first time and commands a bit of respect from 7/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

Another that needs to be respected for this fixture is CESAR COLLONGES.

This will be his first run since wind surgery and he is a course and distance winner.

That was delivered a couple of years ago. He recently rediscovered a bit of form with a second place at Ffos Las six weeks ago.

Heading up the horse racing market for this small field is DAZZLING ROCK at even money* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:24 GMT on Wednesday, 18th November 2020).

It is certainly hard to knock his form coming into this.

Not only is Dazzling Rock a course and distance winner, but he scored at Wolverhampton just over two weeks ago.

That was on a 14f trip where he showed a great attitude to stay on to fight off the win. He likes to get to the front and lead the charge, and could be the one to beat.

BYE BYE LADY makes some interesting claims in this one. She is coming into handicapping for the first time here and this will be just her third racetrack appearance.

Bye Bye Lady got off the mark at the second time of asking for Andrew Balding, scoring at Wolverhampton. She kept on well there but the victory was over a year ago.

The final selection would be TAMPERE who is coming into handicapping action for the first time. The filly is a thrice-raced maiden.

She will have the hood on for the first time.

The last run she had was here at Chelmsford city a month ago, when she was a distant second place in a minor event. We don’t see the win coming, but place claims are there.
