This looks like a wide-open contest with all five entries having a fair shot.
First on the list is DESARAY GIRL.
She has been thriving since she was moved back to the hurdles, completing a hattrick in current form when scoring at course and distance last week.
Desaray Girl will be under a 7lb penalty for Thursday but looks like being a big, strong threat.
ASHINGTON won last year’s renewal of this fixture and that was from a mark of 2lb higher than he will be for Thursday.
Ashington claimed a victory at Kelso 49 days ago and took a credible fourth over the hurdles at the venue last month.
He comes from a yard that has won all but two of the last five renewals, so is worth a spot on the shortlist.
It has been well over a year since LORD TORRANAGA was seen in National Hunt action.
Looking back at the previous form, he has won over the hurdles before at Sedgefield and should be sharp after a spin on the level at Wolverhampton two weeks ago.

ONENIGHTINTOWN was a runner up in an effort here at Sedgefield 9 days ago.
It’s been back to back runner-up spots for him now and he comes down 5lb from his latest effort.
Onenightintown is still looking for his first success in chasing but could go close with a repeat performance of the latest effort now with being eased in weight.
ZUCKERBERG is probably on a good mark at the moment as he continues to be eased.
Zuckerberg has come down a further 4lb after a third-place finish at Sedgefield on his latest run.
Place claims should be there as he comes down on the trip.
MUROOR may be the best of the rest in what is a pretty thin field. He needs a revival after going poorly on his latest.
But he does have prior course and distance winning form under his belt and the combination of being eased by the assessor and a 7lb claimer gives him a chance.

NO RISK DES FLOS is seeking a hattrick and could easily be in the mix from this small field.
He has now won half of his eight trips over the hurdles with a narrow win at Wetherby 47 days ago.
No Risk Des Flos takes on a small rise and can’t be counted out, even though those recent victories were by narrow margins.
AJERO may be primed for this one, a race that he won last year. He arrives back in winning form.
Ajero scored at Taunton a month ago and comes up just 1lb from that effort.
He likes to run from the front, but so too rival does Kannapolis.
KANNAPOLIS will be a threat if he brings his best form to the table, which is no guarantee.
He returned to action in December with a runner-up spot at Kempton after a break of 10 months.
Kannapolis was poor on his follow up but gets weight from everyone else.

UP WITH THE PLAY put in an improved effort at Hexham last week which offers something to build on.
He has had nine previous goes at the hurdles now without success.
This longer trip may be able to get Up With The Play somewhere near.
THE VERY THING has his first run over the hurdles for the first time in a long while.
He is 5lb down from the last appearance over the timbers which was in October.
There was a chase win for him at Catterick on his penultimate but had a health issue on his follow up.
NOW IS THE WINTER lands on the shortlist for horse racing tips after a runner up at the course and distance on his penultimate.
His follow up was at Huntingdon where the ground had had a bit too much cut in it for his liking.

TEA TIME ON MARS doesn’t have the most reliable jumping form, but a clear round if he can stick one, would put him in this.
He carded a very good third at Hereford on his latest run, his third-place finish in five runs this season.
Tea Time On Mars may be worth looking at for place claims.
Another with slightly sketchy jumping is JUST YOUR TYPE and the handicapper has released his grip on him a bit.
There was a struggle by him at Newcastle last time out, but he’s down 5lb and was a runner up in a similar race back in November.
FAVORI DE SIVOLA can’t be written out of this if he is well-tuned for this contest.
There were back to back wins for him at Exeter and Wincanton to kick off the new campaign.
Favori De Sivola hasn’t been at that level the last twice but should thrive in the test of stamina that is ahead on Thursday.
DANCING SHADOW is another that warrants respect on the shortlist for Thursday.
He needs a bounce-back but he did put in a couple of very positive efforts, showing a lot of promise at the start of the season.

GIVE US A SWIG goes for last year’s winning yard and he has been operating well enough to suggest that he can get in this.
Give Us A Swig has won over the timbers before and should be a bigger threat as he comes down in trip from a 5th at Exeter last time out in some heavy conditions.
ARBENNING makes the move to the fences and given some excellent novice form over the timbers could show well.
Arbenning also enters handicapping for the first time and takes on a much longer trip.
Throw in a wind op and the unexposed Arbenning is worth watching.
EARCOMESBOB is a former point winner and while he hasn’t looked a massive threat under rules, he should be in the mix.
He has been competitive in each of his last four starts, getting in the frame in each.
That consistency should put Earcomesbob in it.
PASEO is another that warrants respect from this big field. Since moving yard, he has placed in a couple of handicap chases.
Paseo has been eased back 3lb which is likely to give him a fair chance on Thursday at Chepstow.
