Today’s Horse Racing Tips & Odds – Tuesday, 2nd February 2021

Today’s horse racing tips for Tuesday come from Newcastle and Southwell so it is all flat stuff that we have to look at for the day.

All of the action from Newcastle is bumper action, incidentally.

So it is six racing tips for today that we are looking at for Tuesday, 2nd February 2021.

Race Favourite

The race favourite for this contest is MACKENBERG at 11/8** (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Monday, 1st February 2021 at Paddy Power).

He opened the new season with a win, which in the first hurdles effort at Carlisle this season. He has been in the places in each of them.

But Mackenberg suffered a heavy defeat in third at Aintree on a 2m 1f trip in December over the hurdles, so needs to bounce back.

He has won a bumper before at Carlisle and looks to be one of the big threats in this field.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LARGY MOUTH gets the cheekpieces on for the first time in this one. He was at course and distance last time out in a very similar event.

So there is every reason to assume that he is going to be back in fame. That latest run was a couple of weeks ago. Largy Mouth has a chance.

The other one of the short slits here is FONTANA ELLISSI as he is bred for the flat.

In November he was involved in a bumper at Stratford and collected a third place finish.

That was the same result when he jumped into hurdles for the first time on his follow up. Fontana Ellissi is one to watch.

PROSCHEMA is the current 11/4 market leader for this bumper, which looks wide open* (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Monday, 1st February 2021 at Paddy Power).

There was a win for Proschema on his last run, getting the score at course and distance in a bumper.

It was a very strong run from hom, and he saw off a couple of rivals that were in form as well.

We can only imagine that Proschema is going to be right back in the frame in another shot at an NH Flat race, having delivered by a short head as favourite last time out.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

TEA CLIPPER nabbed a Grade 3 win over the hurdles on his penultimate start. So that puts him right in the frame in this one.

He was then in a Newbury handicap hurdle last time out and handled himself pretty well from a high mark of 141 to get fifth place.

Another of the key players in his field is likely to be NEWTOWN BOY. He scored at course and distance in an NH Flat fixture thirteen days ago.

There is a penalty now that he takes on because of that success, but has every chance of getting in the money spots.

Newtown Boy scored at hurdles success three races ago.

There has been strong form from him this season as he opened the season with a win. That was here back in January.

Gabriel The Devil was back at Southwell five days ago at course and distance when he was second of eight.

So that continued good form and he may have a chance of reversing that form.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

SHALLOW HAL picked up the win over Gabrial The Devil five days ago when he stuck to his guns well to score.

The difference now is that he is going to have to deal with a 5lb penalty to try and hold off his rival.

That’s going to require just a little more, but it’s been two good wins in six runs this season.

TAWNY PORT is a course and distance winner. He was here at Southwell on his latest effort as well.

That ended in a third place finish for him and saw a notable rise in form from him. It’s been back to back third place finishes from him.

Mulzim deals with a 4lb penalty in this one and he is a four-time course and distance winner now.

FANTASY KEEPER should also have a big player in this field. He is generally pretty strong on the fibresand.

He was last in action when he won an 8-runner handicap at course and distance a couple of weeks ago.

DUKE OF FIRENZE is reliable and has a chance of getting back in the money. He found only Mulzim too good for him on the day of his latest effort.

That was seven days ago over course and distance and while he looks to find a little bit more, place claims are there.

FINOAH should be competitive if he handles the surface in this one.

He wasn’t at his best in a Wolverhampton handicap on his latest run.

But he won at Redcar in October and when he puts it together on the day, he’s a threat.

DEFENCE TREATY was second on his last run. He was second to Thrave at course and distance 16 days ago when he got within a length.

But Defence Treaty is now up against the same rival and 6lb worse off in terms. So it’s a big ask, but he can get close.

Palazzo went off hard in that one. So he should be competitive and retains a visor.

DAAFY is a little more interesting in this fixture. He picked up a great win here at the course and distance two weeks ago.

That was a strong race as well and Daafy had De Bruyne Horse behind in that one. There’s a small 3lb rise for him now.

That last race worked out well for him and he could have more to offer at 10/3* (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Monday, 1st February 2021 at Paddy Power).

DORS TOYBOY piques a little bit of interest as he was a second-place finish in a field of ten at Chelmsford City 19 days ago.

He was well up on the field in that one and therefore makes an interesting player.

It’s a slightly tougher contest, but if he can build on that effort, place claims may be there.
