MINZAAL won the Gimcrack as a juvenile and looked like he had a big future ahead of him.

It hasn’t quite taken off this season as a 4-year-old yet but took a good third in The Champions Sprint Stakes when last seen at Ascot six months ago.

Minzaal is still a little unexposed and does have the potential in him. He’s back at a winning venue so warrants a look.

DRAGON SYMBOL is the other big name in this one after being highly tried last year and not being disgraced.

The pick of his form in 2021 was a runner up in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

He didn’t get it together in the Champions Sprint on his final run of the campaign, but excuses were there.

Dragon Symbol returns from a break for a new top yard and gets on the shortlist.

SPYCATCHER could thrive in this contest if there is a fair pace laid down in it.

There was a victory at Lingfield for him on his first run of the year in February. He wasn’t far away on his follow up at the AW Sprint Championships at Newcastle a month ago.

Spycatcher may need the race to go his way but is no forlorn hope on the turf.

Tip: DRAGON SYMBOL 11/4

Ones to watch: Minzaal 11/4, Spycatcher 9/1

EMILY UPJOHN shrugged off a penalty to score a novice event at Sandown three weeks ago.

That was her first run as a 3-year-old, having scored her debut last year at Wolverhampton with plenty to spare.

This is a tougher race, but Emily Upjohn warrants respect.

LIFE OF DREAMS won her debut as the favourite when delivering odds at Newbury last month.

That should set her up well. Life Of Dreams has some wonderful breeding and can make an impact as she comes up in class.

THE ALGARVE is the final one for the shortlist and there is plenty to like about the American Pharaoh filly.

She was a rapid improver as a 2-year-old with her form culminating in a win at Galway in some heavy conditions.

The Algarve looks like a good middle-distance runner.

Tip: LIFE OF DREAMS 11/4

Ones to watch: Emily Upjohn 4/6, The Algarve 13/2

NOMADIC EMPIRE landed a third on his reappearance run three weeks ago. That was at Ripon at the minimum 5f distance.

He was a little unlucky in that one but finished strongly with a good attitude.

Nomadic Empire is a former course and distance winner so should have a chance.

PUNCHBOWL FLYER went well in handicaps last year, despite things falling apart a bit at the end of the season.

He makes his reappearance here having had a wind op during his break. Punchbowl Flyer has a previous form from fresh so can’t be dismissed.

WOVEN has gotten in the frame on both of his runs this season and the former course winner can make his presence felt.

The cheekpieces are retained and he really hasn’t put a foot wrong. Woven was fourth in last year’s renewal of this race.

BERGERAC is another that is worth a look in this competitive contest as he is a former course and distance winner.

He’s produced some fine form in defeat this season and took a runner up spot at Newmarket a month ago. Bergerac should be right there.

Tip: BERGERAC 8/1

Ones to watch: Punchbowl Flyer 28/1, Woven 14/1

SAMBURU was a winner on his reappearance run, maintaining his unbeaten record over two appearances.

That latest win came comfortably for him at Salisbury.

Samburu looks to be on a lenient mark and has an early entry for a Group 1 at Royal Ascot, so big things are expected of him.

THE COOKSTOWN CAFU continuously improved as a juvenile and took a runner up here at course and distance on his most recent run.

That was in October, so he will need to get out of the gates fresh. The Cookstown Cafu looks like he can go places.

MOJOMAKER could have a say in things as he is in form and match fit at the moment.

He appeared at Doncaster on his latest run and he was only narrowly defeated.

Mojomaker comes up on trips and should make his presence felt.

Tip: SAMBURU 11/10

Ones to watch: Mojomaker 13/2, The Cookstown Cafu 11/2

SEEMINGLY SO will be under a 7lb penalty for Wednesday’s run after landing a good win at Market Rasen.

That was five days ago and he had plenty in the tank if more had been needed.

Earlier this year he had got off the mark in chasing with a score at Musselburgh in February. Seemingly So is clearly on the up in this sphere.

CALLE MALVA is an interesting player in this field as she takes a big drop in class.

After a break of 16 months, she was sent to a Listed run at a course and distance last month. She was, as her 40/1 SP suggests, heavily beaten.

But connections must have thought highly of her, and this is a much easier affair for Calle Malva in midweek so she piques interest.

MONSIEUR CO is a good consistent one, getting in the frame in each of his last half dozen appearances, but without a win.

He was fourth at Ayr last month on his latest. There hasn’t been a score for Monsieur Co since 2020, but a falling mark is a clear benefit.

GUN MERCHANT was a runner up just over a month ago at Kelso, looking somewhere near his belt.

He is entitled to come on further from that. There was a score by Gun Merchant at Newcastle in November last year from only 2lb lower.

The 9-year-old looks to be well treated and could get in the picture.

Tip: SEEMINGLY SO 9/4

Ones to watch: Calle Malva 9/2, Monsieur Co 6/1

STORM OF LIGHT has been in good form for a while now, consistently going well since scoring at Uttoxeter four races ago.

He has placed in each of his three handicap efforts since. A late mistake cost him the race last time out but has to get close again.

PAMMI was a runner up last time out, going well in a big effort at Ayr in April.

Last summer Pammi took three courses and distance wins so knows what this is all about.

The little break should have done her the power of good and she warrants some respect for this handicap.

SCHALKE gets on the shortlist as he looks comfortably at home in this kind of staying contest.

There was a snack to back wins for him at Market Rasen and Catterick before a fourth at Carlisle last month.

While that didn’t pan out for Schalke, a bounce back is not out of the question by any means.

Tip: SCHALKE 11/2

Ones to watch: Pammi 7/2, Storm Of Light 7/2
