There was a runner up place for him on his latest effort, which was at course and distance 18 days ago. That was from a field of eight in a handicap.

The last win that he had was four races ago, back in November at Chelmsford city.

There is a 2lb rise for him, but there’s no-one of the quality of the horse that beat him last time out, in this race.

SIR OLIVER makes a return after 168 days but is a good all-weather performer.

Yes, it’s a long break but there is a 7lb claimer helping his cause here. This will be his debut for a new yard and he will have the cheekpieces on for the first time.

JACKSTAR takes a drop in the weights and also gets the blinkers on for the first time.

That piques some interest in him putting something together in this one.

His latest run yielded a fourth-place finish at Wolverhampton 20 days ago.

He has knocked on the door in each of his last three runs, finishing runner up in each of those. Outrage’s latest effort was at Newcastle six days ago.

That was earned in a field of nine in a handicap. It’s been a long time since he has posted a win (no victory in 16), but he is expected to at least get close again.

SHAMSHON is the pick for us at 5/2* (betting odds recorded 19:38 GMT on Tuesday, 26th January at Ladbrokes).

The 10-year-old claimed a win at course and distance earlier this month and then on his latest run, bust a gut to claim second place at 6f, fading just at the end.

Shamshon has a big chance off the same mark.

The other selection is going to be VERNE CASTLE who has taken back to back second-place finishes this season.

Verne Castle is a former course and distance winner and claimed a good second at Wolverhampton just over a couple of weeks ago.

He has enough to enter calculations.

He should be able to give a good account of himself as he has a lot of weight in hand over the field. The blinkers go back on for him.

There was a fifth-place finish last time out for him in a Lingfield handicap 45 days ago. The extra trip here is probably going to mean a stronger effort from Aleatoric.

WEMYSS POINT is an interesting inclusion in this race. He is down 2lb after a poor run at Newcastle on his last effort which was 45 days ago.

But he has done well before on visits to Lingfield, and that is what piques some interest here. He has claims for his Polytrack debut.

She has been in the frame in her last two efforts, the most recent of which was a runner up spot at Wolverhampton 16 days ago.

She wasn’t in top form there as she good a little loose. But the overall form is promising from her and gets Hollie Doyle in the saddle as well.

VIVENCY is likely to have a big say in this fixture. She is getting better and better after her recent go in a minor event recently.

Two weeks ago she showed up at Kempton over course and distance and battled for a second-place finish, running on so well.

CHLOELLIE will be the other for the shortlist here.

There was a good run recently from her at Southwell and Kempton has been a happy hunting ground.

This will be the fourth race track appearance for her as she is looking to break her maiden. Moohareeba was last seen a month ago in a minor event at Wolverhampton.

It was a third-place finish there for her, and she has been in the places in all three starts.

Her jockey takes off 7lb so that really puts her in the spotlight for this one, in what is her handicap debut.

NARJES had a great run on the weekend at 10 furlongs at Lingfield. She stays at the same rating after getting beaten by just a length in that handicap fixture.

Michael Appleby’s mare will likely enter calculations.

EMBRACE THE MOMENT looks to be the other one in the field that will likely put her nose into the mix.

She is coming down in trip which is going to suit here. She struggled a little bit at 2 furlongs further a couple of weeks here at Kempton.

The 7/4 market leader is LADY QUICKSTEP who will be looking to secure a double* (betting odds recorded 19:38 GMT on Tuesday, 26th January at Ladbrokes).

She scored 9 days ago at Wolverhampton when she was really driven on very well. She comes in under a 5lb penalty, but the form is clearly there for her to make an impact.

There will likely be further improvement to come. That run at Wolverhampton was her first since July last year.

NAPPING may have something to offer as she looks for a bounce-back performance. She won the course and distance on her penultimate race.

She just couldn’t quite follow it up in a below-par run at Southwell afterwards with the surface perhaps playing a part in that.

Another that is in the hunt for a bounceback effort is TURANGA LEELA. She scored at Wolverhampton in December but has struggled in her two efforts since.

The most recent of those was back at that same venue when she raced wide and never had a real chance.
