Tuesday Racing – Saint Dalina 4/1 for Exeter 3.00

Exeter specialist looks good value eased in grade

Horse Racing Betting

Though it is largely modest fare at Exeter this Tuesday, five of the eight races have attracted double-figure field so there is something for punters to get their teeth into.

The Good Doctor hoping to find winning prescription

Richard Newland – known in racing circles at The Good Doctor – has found the French racing scene to be a rich source of profit.

Le Patriote, Caid Du Lin and Katpoli are just a few recent examples of the Gallic influence exercised on Newland’s Worcestershire yard.
COBALTIC is also French bred but he was actually bought out of Liz Doyle’s stable in County Wexford. Runner-up at Wexford last spring to a horse which later finished second in a €20,000 handicap at the big Fairyhouse meeting, the gelding also came up against a couple of useful novices at Sligo subsequently.

It was a strong handicap at Sandown in which he made his UK debut and he weakened off the final turn but that still wasn’t a bad run in the context of a race like the 3.00 ROA Rewards Owners Handicap Hurdle at Exeter. His trainer’s runners invariably improve for an outing and a wind operation may also have helped the five-year-old so it will be disappointing if he can’t make an impact on just his fourth run under Rules.

Saint Dalina is vying for favouritism with Cobaltic at 4/1 with Betvictor with the extra distance likely to suit Charlie Longsdon’s mare, who was second to a useful novice at Southwell.

The 3.30 Make The Most Of Racehorse Ownership With ROA Handicap Chase is not a glowing endorsement of the sponsor’s product but there are a few recent winners in the line-up, though you probably need to pay your money and takes your choice over which, if any, will reproduce their best form.

Great Tempo finally came good by a head at Taunton last month. He showed a better attitude that day, though has more on his plate off this 5lb higher mark.

Arqalina probably ran better than the result at Leicester last time suggests as he still appeared to be going well when stopped in his tracks by a mistake. He’d won on his debut over fences and his stable’s novices are going well.

Ballybreen won for the first time at Hereford at the start of January but would need the blinkers to work a second time and to find improvement to double his tally.

Kiwi Myth won at Fontwell before finishing third at Plumpton and was also successful last year at Exeter so can’t be left out of calculations.

In Arrears set to collect?

IN ARREARS has only won twice under Rules but both victories have come at Exeter. He’s dropped 15lb in the weights since the start of the season and showed improvement last time at Fakenham. His rider also has a 7lb allowance so the top weight could take advantage of a drop in grade at Betvictor’s 8/1.
