Has is a good consistent sort and has been in the frame in each of his last five runs now, the last two ending in runners-up places.

It is an eleven race streak without a win, but he is a former course and distance winner.

The last run that Danzeno had was a couple of weeks when he was second over 6f at Nottingham in a handicap. He will likely be there or thereabouts.

He stands a good chance of returning to winning ways and will be our pick.

MAKANAH will have a tough task on his hands because he is at top weight. But he does generally go well at Musselburgh which should keep him in the frame.

Makanah had slipped down from the listed company where he finished at the back of the field at Doncaster. He is a former course and distance winner.

The other name for the list is VICTORY ANGEL as he has been the one who has been in the best form from the runners in the pack.

He has scored in two of his last three runs. The most recent of those scores for Victory Angel was at course and distance a couple of weeks ago. Place claims are there.

The race favourite for this handicap is GALE FORCE MAYA and IDOAPOLOGISE at 9/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

So we have joint-favourites, let’s dig into them a bit.

GALE FORCE MAYA has put together a consistent campaign without having managed to pick up a win in her four efforts. But she is tremendously consistent. Just once in her last 13 runs has she failed to make the place. She has the cheek pieces for the first time.

IDOAPOLGISE scored on his last run. That was a success in a 9-runner contest at Beverley under handicap terms.

He finished last season right on top of his game, and he is back there. That last run was three weeks ago, and despite being relatively unexposed, looks a key player.

ALBEN SPIRIT may be worth another look after failing to get going on his last race. He was on a 6f trip at Ayr in his last run, which was just over three weeks ago.

The conditions never really suited him there, but that had been a hat trick chance. So he was in form and back at 7f is worth considerations for the shortlist.

Another good consistent type is MARSHAL DAN who has a 5lb claimer on his back. He has collected a couple of wins from five runs in this campaign.

Marhsal Dan continued his good form with a solid third in a field of 17. That was in a Newbury handicap.

PRAISED is the 15/8 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

This will be her fourth racetrack appearance and she got off the mark at the third attempt.

That was a success in a minor Redcar run a month ago. She looks to be on a fair enough mark coming into his handicap debut.

The unexposed runner looks as if she is going to be the one to beat. We don’t see enough in the field elsewhere, so she is our pick.

TRUE BELIEF got off the mark in similar conditions in a maiden at Windsor last October. He did have a very good run last time out as well.

He only found one too good in a field of 11 in a Lingfield handicap a month ago. It’s been a while since he has won, but the place claims are there because of having handled soft conditions before.

The other nomination for the shortlist will be SPANISH MANE who is on a hattrick.

She is a previous course and distance winner and has taken three scores from nine runs in this campaign. So she is in good heart at the moment.

On her last run she delivered a career best with a win at Leicester three weeks ago. Conditions will be a question, however.

JAMES PARK WOODS is a strong 2/1 favourite for this handicap fixture* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

He posted a good second place in an effort at Redcar a week ago.

With the skeptics on for the first time, he nearly chased down the winner in that one. Another furlong or so and he probably would have gotten it.

But importantly James Park Woods is down 3lb for this next effort. On the back of that last run he is in fantastic form at the moment.

ONE STEP BEYOND will be entering what is his second handicap race in this one. The first of those wsa on a 7f trip at Sandown in July.

One Step Beyond was third in that fixture, but less than a couple of furlongs back of the winner. There was a respectable run in a minor event at Doncaster last time out, but he lost a shoe in that one.

RUN AFTER GENESIS would be the other one for the shortlist in this contest. He held up in a strong race three weeks ago.

That saw him take third place from a field of 14 at Kempton on a mile trip. This is not the strongest field overall, so we see him having some place claims.

We have CARP KID as the 4/1 favourite for this big field of 16* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

It has been a good solid campaign from him, but he was engaged on Sunday at Goodwood.

The season has been a solid, consistent one for Carp Kid without looking like a major threat a lot of the time.

He is a previous course winner but the last win that he was recorded was last year. So we think that he can be overlooked as a favourite.

HIGH COMMISSIONER is up there in the market having taken a second place on his most recent trip. He is winless in eleven runs now, but a recent effort shows that he may not be far away.

High Commissioner claimed a second place finish at Wolverhampton over a mile two weeks ago. He stays at the same mark for this one.

SWEET REWARD is going to be our pick for this effort though at 7/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

He claimed a win on soft ground in August at Newbury, and then followed up with a good effort at Sandown, finishing runner up. He didn’t get going last time out on firmer ground, so the conditions will suit him on the day.

Race Favourite

Anna Of Lorraine is the 6/4 favourite* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020). She is looking to double up after scoring two weeks ago to land a win here at Wolverhampton.

Anna Of Lorraine is coming up 4lb in the ratings now, but it’s reasonable enough to assume that she will handle that.

Hollie Doyle is in the saddle here and as this is a drop in trip, the extra weight may not be too disadvantageous.

SUR MER is likely going to be a big threat in his field after some very strong recent form. She has been in the picture in each of her last four, winning the last twice.

She is up under a 6lb penalty for this one now, but has a 5lb claimer, so most of that is wiped out.

Sur Mer is our pick at 5/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 11th October 2020).

Another that piques some interest is ROCKINGHAM HILL on what is just her third run. She opened for the season with a fourth place finish and is under a new trainer here.

She also claims 7lb for jockey Michael Pitt. Rockingham Hill is making her handicap debut here after a fourth at Ayr back in July.
