MONSIEUR D’ARQUE is the current 2/1 favourite for this Southwell contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

It has been a solid season that he has put together over the fences. He made a reappearance win at Market Rasen back in July.

The last two efforts have been under handicap terms and Monsieur D’arque has done phenomenally well.

He was last seen chasing at Newton Abbot last month at this 2m distance. He only found one too good on that one and is just in great heart over the fences at the moment.

Monsieur D’arque has to be respected and is the one to beat.

Another strong contender to consider for this contest is GOA LIL. He has had a reappearance run under his belt as well.

That ended in a fine third place finish at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago. He gets a 4lb allowance in chasing. He’s a good bold front runner who could shake up this pack.

The other selection for the shortlist in this contest will be ERITAGE who makes a first appearance after wind surgery.

Last season he did get a win over the hurdles at Taunton, but looks a good fit for chase action. Trained by Paul Nicholls, Eritage is coming back after a long layoff.

Race Favourite

STATION MASTER is a narrow 2/1 favourite for this small field at Carlisle* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

This will be his third run of the season, but it still looking to hit the heights.

He wasn’t in great shape at the back end of last season. But that has culminated in him falling down the weights and sooner or later that is likely going to pay off for him.

But for Thursday’s action, we see him being totally opposable.

DAMIENS DILEMMA looks a much sharper, bigger threat at the moment. He is sitting on a hattrick when he takes his place in this race.

Even though he’s giving age to the field, there has been a bold showing from him.

He has secured wins at Kelso and Hexham from the front in his last two.

He is up in the weights, but will be our pick for the contest at 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

The other that we would suggest for the shortlist is LOUGH DERG FARMER. He is back after almost a year away, and wasn’t in great shape at the end of last season either.

But early last year he claimed a win over here over 3m and made all the running in that. He’s a game coming back from an 11 month absence, but place claims could be there if he is well refreshed.

The current market leader for this one is BANDSMAN at 7/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

He was a faller on his last effort, which was at Market Rasen last month.

But on his return from break this season, he scored an excellent second place at Uttoxeter right off the bat.

Bandsman then followed that up with another place finish on his subsequent trip.

This is a much easier contest than what he found himself in last time out. So at least place claims look very viable for him.

OSCAR WILDE still has plenty of potential on-side as a chaser. He was certainly coming on well last term.

He got off the mark in the sphere in a Sedgefield handicap in January. Oscar Wilde couldn’t quite hit that same fort at Huntington on his following trip.

But he is heading in the right direction. He comes back after about a seven-month lay out. Refreshed and tapping into that potential, he should be a player.

We are going slightly longer in the market for our next pick. That is VICTORY ECHO who claimed second place on his last trip.

That was a very strong bounce-back performance as well that he got at Hexham under handicap terms. That’s because it followed a poor reappearance run.

So sharper still, there’s a chance for him here and we are going with him as our pick at 8/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

We switch to the minimum distance for this next race, a handicap from Wolverhampton.

Heading up the market for the contest is TOP BREEZE at 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

It has been back to back second place finishes for him. A couple of weeks ago he was last in action and was well positioned at Chelmsford City to get the place finish.

It’s likely that he is going to be in the picture again.

He has a 5lb claimer in the saddle and will have the blinkers retained. Top Breeze is a former course and distance winner to boot. He is our selection for the race.

Course favourite BENNY AND THE JETS is likely to put another bold show on back at Wolverhampton.

He is another of the course and distance winners showing up in this race. The last time he scored was in August from a quote of 4/1.

Benny And The Jets was in action two weeks ago, taking fourth at Chelmsford City, but a little luck could have helped him further. He’s a big player at the course.

THe other that we will throw on the shortlist is FIZZY FEET. She just missed out on a hattrick on her last trip, coming home fourth in a field of seven in a Kempton handicap.

Fizzy Feet too has secured course and distance success as well. She has been away from action for about four months.

But with three wins from five trips this year, Fizzy Feet has enough to contend refreshed on a drop in trip.

This looks like a superbly competitive race. OUTONPATROL is the current 3/1 market leader* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020).

She scored a win on her repparnace run.

That was her first run after wind surgery as well. She delivered the win on her handicap debut as well, which was at Warwick. So there’s a good chacne there’s more to come.

OUTONPATROL does deal with a 5lb rise in the ratings, but coming back down on trip by a couple of furlongs, she looks a very good fit.

She looks to just be the pick to roll with in this fixture, despite some breathing down her neck.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LILY THE PINK is no mug as she makes her seasonal reappearance. She signed off last season in terrific form with a win at Exeter in January.

A month later she went well to take a runner up place at Wincanton. There’s a 7lb claimer in the saddle as well for Lily The Pink who looks to be one to keep on side refreshed.

We think that HAWTHORN COTTAGE is worth respecting as well. She came into hurdles at the back end of last season and duly delivered back to back wins.

Those were both in the mud over 20f trips. She’s relatively unexpected in this sphere, but a rise in the ratings has been balanced by a 5lb claimer.

She could be an interesting player after a 255 day break.

It is CONSCIOUS leading the way in this contest at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:17 GMT on Wednesday, 21st October 2020). He is sitting on a hat trick here after scoring at Lingfield a month ago.

There is probably more to come from him still. That success at Lingfield was a career best effort from him, and it was at a mile.

That’s two wins on the polytrack from him now with a win at Kempton this season as well. So he is in very good form and needs to be respected for this one as he seeks a hattrick.

Another competitor that is sitting on a hat trick is TORONADO QUEEN. It has been a couple of scores from a total of six runs this year from her.

She too delivered a career best effort on her last run. That was at Wolverhampton three weeks ago.

Her other win this season happened at Leicester. She can’t be taken lightly and carries strong place claims.

This is a competitive, evenly matched contest we feel. So we are looking at DELICATE KISS with Hollie Doyle in the saddle as our final shortlist selection.

She scored on her last trip, which was in a field of 9 at Sandown over a 1m trip. That was only a month ago and showed a great attitude.
