This is Tuesday’s UK racing odds, tips & preview feature where we take a look around the cards of the day to bring our top picks together.

The day’s racing action comes from Goodwood, Newcastle and Newton Abbot.

The feature race of the day for us is The Royal Sussex Regiment Handicap from Goodwood and the Newton Abbot Handicap Hurdle at 14:40 also has big appeal.

Race Favourite

SAINTBURY LADY is the 5/2 favourite for this hurdles action from Newton Abbot on Tuesday. She will be seeking a hattrick when she steps out there in this race as her handicapping adventures have taken her to the next level.

The most recent of those wins happened over course and distance just under three weeks ago. There is likely a lot more to come from her, and there are leading claims there.

The form of Saintbury Lady over the back end of last season never suggested this huge upswing. She is really profiting from the handicapping.

DARIYA looks a lively contender for this race as well. She was bang in form last time out, collecting a hurdles race at Stratford under handicapping terms.

Dariya stays at the same mark and if that quick turnaround is surmountable, she has every chance of setting in the frame.

The other that we have to look towards is the unexposed GAOT, trained by Harry Fry. He hadn’t been out for 49 days when he collected a fourth place in a novice effort at Stratford.

The winner of that race incidentally has scored twice more since then. But Gaot shaped well in the fixture and will have the tongue strap for the first time. She has shown glimpses of great potential.

STORY OF FRIENDS is the market leader at 7/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). There is going to be plenty of appeal on him after he scored over course and distance last time out.

That was a career-best for him and a big progression from the promise that he showed in hurdles action last year. He had a real spring in his step at the end of that C&D a week ago. He should be back in the picture but does have a 7lb penalty.

YEAVERING BELLE looks to be a big threat in this field as well. It’s been nothing but positive form from her.

She made her reappearance with a win in July at Bangor-on-Dee and battled to a second place finish at Uttoxeter last time out, which was in early August. That’s three wins in her last four and she has to be respected coming back up in trip.

RHYTHM IS A DANCER has been showing a steady hand this season, including a victory at Southwell in his penultimate race.

He is a pretty useful hurdler and will be looking for a bit of a bounce-back effort after labouring a bit to a fourth place at Uttoxeter a month ago.

We switch gears now for some chase action at Newton Abbot. It is MON PALOIS who is the narrow 7/2 favourite to land the victory in it* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

It has been a good return to action, opening with a third-place on a chase debut before securing a win at Stratford. Mon Palois seems to be adapting well to the bigger stuff and has some strong claims in this one. He is up 5lb in the ratings, but looks sharp.

CHELTENHAM DE VAIGE missed out on a hat trick last time out as he was 4th of 6 at Sedgefield twelve days ago. He was in contention there but a mistake a couple from home thwarted his chances.

Still, improving form has been there and Cheltenham De Vaige won twice over course and distance in August and is well worth a look at 4/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

PARODY is making her debut over the fences in this one, but the Paul Nicholls-trained mare is being well respected. She claimed a hurdle win at the track last summer and there has been good steady form from her in this campaign.

That was one of two wins over the hurdles that she has taken at the track.

The race favourite here is STAG HORN in what looks to be a very competitive fixture* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). He has picked up two wins this season, one of those on his last trip.

Two weeks ago he scored at Catterick with consummate ease and has bounced up 9lb for his form. He should have enough about him to put together a bold run and that was a big improvement from him last time out.

SEINESATIONAL cannot be overlooked for this contest as he is sitting on a hattrick. So he can’t be faulted from that point of view and well worth looking at right now.

One those two wins that he has earned recently was here at Goodwood and another 4lb hike may be shrugged off in light of what he has produced.

SMART CHAMPION is the other pick for this race. He was third last time out in a handicap (20f) 41 days ago at the Ascot Stakes.

Back in July he was up against Just Hubert in a contest at Goodwood as well over a longer trip and was third behind his competitor.

The 5 year old Smart Champion is very interesting from this mark at 5/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

The race favourite for this one is the popular OMNIVEGA at 11/10* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). He sets the standard in this one after just missing out on a four-timer on his last run.

He was last seen at an Ascot handicap where positioning never gave him a chance at better than the fourth place he took. But on his day with a clear run, he is going to take some stopping. This is nowhere near as competitive as his recent Ascot run.

He likes the weather but perhaps the one slight question over him will be the weight that he is carrying, which is big.

INDIGO LAKE is probably going to turn up and be a player in this field. He has been in great form since his return to action for John Gosden. He has put one win on the board in his five runs this season, but has been in the frame for all but one of those. He gets the blinkers for the first time and he looks well handicapped.

We have to look at IFFRAAJ as well who produced the best of his career with a win at Kempton a week ago in a big 13-runner field. He never looked like being pegged back in that contest, which does cost him a 6lb penalty. But the place claims are there in what looks to be a superb race.

It is back to Goodwood for the final race of our Tuesday preview. ABEL HANDY is the 5/2 favourite for this spring action after landing a win on his last run. That was at Ripon seven days ago, and that built on a superb fourth place in the Great St Wilfrid at the same track.

He has been hit with a 5lb penalty for that, but he is not actually on a bad mark at all, it’s easily workable for him and will likely knock on the door of another win on Tuesday.

The veteran PETTOCHSIDE needs to be considered after he claimed second place in a 5f contest last time out. That was only by a photo-finish as well. He has been in the frame in each of his last three runs now and has won six times before at Goodwood.

With that recent effort coming less than 2 weeks ago, he should be match sharp.

We are going to have a look at DREAM TODAY to get close to ending his sling streak, which stretches back to early last year. There was a big showing from him last time out as he claimed a second place over course and distance 38 days ago.

If he brings that form, then he could get in the mix.
