Can Jaytrack Parkhomes hold off the field?

Trained by Colin Tizzard, Jaytrack Parkhomes was a beaten favourite last time out. That was over a longer 2m 3f distance in December at Taunton. He could only manage fifth in that race from a position of having been 7/2 favourite.

He is going as top-weight here for the trip over the fences. There has been steady, consistent progress by him, having claimed a place in three of his last five runs. He’s familiar with the Wincanton track and the shorter trip may just suit him well and he goes a 9/4 favourite* (betting odds taken from Coral on January 29th, 2020 at 20:31).

Templier Outright
13/2

Go Steady gains support

Go Steady was embroiled in a fascinating tussle at Leicester in his last race. He was in a three-way scrap and just managed to out the win by a nose ver Donatello Mail. The win was over 2m and from a position of 5/4 favourite as well.

Before his return to action in November last year, Go Steady had been away for three years. His form has been improving, peaking with that win at Leicester in a Class 4 race. Go Steady is the 11/4 second-favourite* (betting odds taken from Coral on January 29th, 2020 at 20:31).

Templier bringing some form

Bringing a bit of form to this Novices’ Handicap Hurdle is Templier. The Irish runner has been successful in both a hurdle and a chase at 2m. He was the second last time out which was at Fontwell in December last year.

Before that, he had secured a victory at Hereford at the 2m distance in a Class 4 fixture. On his last visit to Wincanton in October 2017, he took a second-place finish at this distance and should have appeal at 13/2 odds* (betting odds taken from Coral on January 29th, 2020 at 20:31).

The Rest

Ibleo is going to be an unknown quantity in the race as he has not run since October 2017. So there’s no telling what he is going to do on the track. Haldon Hill was fourth in a 2m chase at Hereford just earlier this month which could have sharpened him up well, but he will go off near top weight.

Bucks Bin has seen his form dive having pulled up and then trailing home seventh of 10 in a Newbury Chase in December last year. That was at the 2m distance. The French runner has yet to land a win over the jumps. Bathiva could only manage seventh in a 2m Warwick hurdle in early January while Not Going Out has had 13 starts over the hurdles and has one place from all of that.

Predictions & Tips

Jaytrack Homes couldn’t secure the deal as favourite last time out, but he has been pretty steady going along his jumping career. That suggests that there is better to come from him, and this will be at test a top weight.

Go Steady is rising in form following his three-year layoff. His recent win means that he is a big contender in his race, or at least should be. It is Templier that takes the pick as the outside contender for this race. He has shown good form recently.
