Wolverhampton 15:10: Boylesports offer 5/6 racing odds on Invitational – 3rd December 2020

Invitational the clear favourite in small field at Wolverhampton

Horse Racing Betting

The afternoon racing from Wolverhampton on Friday includes this Class 2 affair which goes over 7f. There is only a small field to dig through for the fixture on the card, with only five runners heading to the start. It is Invitational who is heading the betting as the odds-on favorite.

Wolverhampton 15:10 race odds:

Invitational 5/6
Rock On Baileys 10/3
Lucy May 7/2
Second Collection 12/1
Emily Goldfinch

Can Invitational deliver the win as favourite?

Invitational returns on the back of a victory. She collected a first place at Fontainebleau back in the middle of November so returns after a short break. That win came over 7f on heavy going and that was her third success at the 7f distance. In that win she held off Grace Spirit by a short head so had to show a bit of grit in the end. She looks, especially with the way that the betting is going, that she could outclass her opponents.

Can Rock On Baileys land a successful challenge?

Rock On Baileys does have some claims in this one after winning a fairly similar conditions race at Lingfield. That was a very solid run in a Class 4 challenge and it sets her up very well for this on. That was the first success since back in July 2018 for the five year old, so it will be interesting to see if she can make bigger strides to better things. Given the conditions for the race, then she looks easily to be the nearest challenger to the favorite at a 10/3 quote* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on January 2nd, 2020 at 2:20 pm)

Does Lucymai have enough about her?

Back on December 21st, Lucymai was up against Rock On Baileys and came home second by one and a quarter lengths. That again, was at the 7f distance in a Class 3 race. Although it was a much smaller field that she had been in for some time, it was her best run of the season. But will she be able to come up with a response to not only toppled Rock On Baileys for some revenge, but best Invitational too?

Second Collection and Emily Goldfinch

Second Collection does have wins behind her but at 6f distances only. So she hasn’t come up with the form over the extra trip that is needed here, and the conditions may be a little too stiff for her. Likewise for Emily Goldfinch who is the rank outsider here. There just hasn’t been the form there from the seven year old this season, including a last place finish at Southwell in December.

Predictions

Invitational is going up 3lb for this race, but she looks as if she can comfortably handle herself in this class of opposition. It’s hard to see any of the others getting close enough over the distance to stop her and Rock On Baileys and Lucymai may distract each other in another close duel. Invitational to win at 5/6* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on January 2nd, 2020 at 2:20 pm)
