WTA Charleston Tennis Betting Betting Info
There is a big field at Charleston this week for our tennis betting, and the busy Premier tier swing of the season continues in South Carolina. The biggest switch up here, is that the players move on to clay for this one, and there has been a lot of Grand Slam champions taking this title. The field is not as strong as the ones we have seen over the past couple of weeks at Indian Wells and Miami, but there is a good, competitive line up, highlighted by the participation of the two Williams’ sisters. Sony Ericsson winner Agnieszka Radwanska was due to participate, but she has withdrawn, leaving world number five Sam Stosur as the top seed.

WTA Charleston Tennis Betting Betting Defending Champion
Caroline Wozniacki is the defending Charleston champion, but she hasn’t signed up for the event this year. She will probably be over in Augusta watching boyfriend Rory McIlroy try and land the Green Jacket at the 2012 US Masters. Shame there is no defending Champion here, but previous winner of the event Serena Williams, is one of six winners in the field to have taken the title in the last eight editions.

WTA Charleston Tennis Betting Betting Favourite
Serena Williams is favourite in WTA Charleston Tennis betting, is looking to win the title for the second time in her career. She had a decent run in Miami last week, hitting the quarter final stage. There are questions over whether she is just fully back at her best match sharpness, because she only really performed in patches during the Sony Ericsson Open. So she is beatable, but clay is often a great leveller, and being a French Open titlist, she is good enough to win, but may need some time find her way back into form on the red stuff. Williams is 2/1 favourite at BetFair to win.

Other Contenders
Sam Stosur has to make a good bet here, because although she has been disappointingly slow of the starting blocks this year, and has looked very inconsistent at times, she is one of the players on the WTA with a lot of clay court pedigree. She won here back in 2010 as well, and there is going to be good value in backing her because of her status on clay. She reached the final of Doha this season, and other than that she hasn’t really shone, especially not for being a US Open winner last season. She lost to Serena Williams in Miami last week, but should have a much better crack at things on clay. There really should be nothing stopping her getting to the semi finals, not even Venus Williams who is a potential quarter final opponent. In the semi’s there could be yet another clash with Serena Williams to look forward too. No real challenges ahead for Stosur until the quarters, so he has time to get her sight in.

Frenchwomen Marion Bartoli, who we never tire of mentioning in our WTA tennis betting, hit some fantastic form in Miami last week, becoming the first play of the season to beat world number one Victoria Azarenka. Bartoli has been in the quarter finals of four of her last five tournaments now. She really is due a win because she has been one of the most consistent performers on the circuit this year. She would be fully deserving of a win and she is pretty solid on clay as well, because she is generally a step ahead of the game and has great footwork as she is always on her toes. Should have a good run because of the draw, where the highest seed she could meet in the quarter finals is world number 21 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Best Outside Bet
The players mentioned above are the most likely to contest this title, looking at the draw and the class of the field. However, would take a look at a good run due from Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, who gave Caroline Wozniacki a good fight in the quarter finals here last season before losing out. Wickmayer. Wickmayer has been to the final of Hobart this season, the semi’s in Paris and the quarters in Doha. Could be a surprise quarter finalists here. Wickmayer is 18/1 at BetFair to win the tournament.
