MR GREEN REVIEW 2020 - SPORTS BETTING REVIEW

OUR OPINIONS ABOUT MR GREEN

  • Award winning site
  • Excellent website design
  • Superb apps for Android and iOS

Online-Betting Rating:

This is our Mr Green review, in which we take an in-depth look at the operator and what they have to offer to customers. They are a company which is based in Sweden under the persona of Mr Green.

Mr Green, for reference, is a fictional mysterious gentleman who goes under that name. They are a multiple award-winning site and the company, when launched, were focused in the casino and gaming arena.

But there is a Mr Green sportsbook available. That is going to be the focus of this Mr Green betting review.

We are going to not only take a look at the quality of the sportsbook itself and things like the variety, but other things like features and the Mr Green welcome bonus.

In January 2019 the company that owns Mr Green (MRG) was purchased by William Hill PLC. William Hill are one of the leading betting and companies in the world and therefore that is a lot of weight that Mr Green has behind them.

Betting markets and odds quality 8/10

Mr Green has an excellent layout in their sportsbook.

Starting with the organisation of the menu, it was split into popular sports, such as all the major sports like the Premier League, WTA tennis, NBA, NHL and Serie A.

For the Mr Green sportsbook menu, the organisation of the list makes it easy not to just get to say, football, but directly to the desired league or competition that you are looking for.

So that was a good positive start for this Mr Green review.

The main navigation is done through a left-hand menu. There is an A-Z there. But preceding that is a Popular section which lists quick links to the best of the current action that is happening. So if there is currently a big Darts tournament happening, for example, Darts will show up there.

It allows for quick access to the markets. There was a more comprehensive list beneath that and it added up to an extensive sportsbook. That was a notable right from the off.

The markets that are presented on the home page of the LeoVegas sports betting section are laid out very clearly. You can clearly see which sports are being covered live as well.

There is actually a lot going on on the home page, but things are spread out very well. Markets are easy to read.

It’s a good-looking site and there was some good depth to be found in a variety of markets in some of the live football matches that we explored. Included in that were great options like Asian Markets, Time Intervals and there was a bet Builder available too.

To further look at the bookmaker, in this Mr Green review we will break down some of the individual markets as well as take in other features like the Mr Green welcome bonus and the Mr Green mobile app.

Mr Green Football Review

Let’s push on with this Mr Green review with a look at Mr Green football betting

A click through to the football coupon from the main sports menu link raises a list of matches which are sorted by competition, on the screen.

Matches which have live in-play betting are clearly marked there.

A nice touch about the presentation of football odds at Mr Green is that alternative markets can be seen alongside the match outrights on the main coupon.

So if you are looking at Bundesliga betting for example and have all matches listed for the next round of action, you can see the match outrights along with the Goals Totals markets alongside it.

There is then a menu to change what you see.

You can switch between things like Both Teams To Score, Double Chance, Half Time and other markets. Clicking one of those will present the odds for all of the individual matches in the coupon.

Clicking straight through to an individual match, we were impressed by the number of markets that were on offer.

There is basically a long list of markets to go through, but there are quick links to skip to things like Most Popular, Full Time, Half, 3-way handicap, Asian Lines and other types of bets.

Navigation was quick and smooth.

Also for this Mr Green betting review, we clicked on a Bundesliga match and on the right-hand side of the screen there was the full league table along with odds presented for different outrights such as League Title, Top 4 Finish, Relegation etc.

That was a nice touch of design by Mr Green.

Also available in the Mr Green football section there was a Pre-packs link. This is where they have pre-packaged doubles priced up, such as Borussia Dortmund To Win & Total Goals Under 4.5, or Total Goals Over 1.5 & Total Corners Over 7.5 and that kind of thing.

In our experience of Mr Green there was a good football area. The layout is good, which helps when things move over to the Mr Green mobile app. It’s all very tidy. The coverage extends to some good global markets.

Perhaps it’s not the most extensive of sportsbooks that we have encountered in overall terms of bet variety and market options, but it’s solid enough.

That’s particularly true if you are sticking to the big leagues and competitions for the bulk of Mr Green football betting.

Mr Green Racing Review

There is horse racing available at Mr Green. The racecards that appear come in from around the world as well as the domestic action from UK and Irish racing.

Races can be found from the likes of America, Australia and Japan for worldwide coverage.

The quickest way to get to the racecards is through the link in the main sports menu. That just raises a list of races on the main part of the screen.

The main info on that section is going to be the time of the race, place details and a countdown timer until the race goes off. Races which have live streams available are marketed with a little icon.

Only the top three horses in each race are presented here, so you have to go into each race individually to get to the meat of things.

From the main racing screen, you can click “Show all runners’ and move the Details slider to show horse form information.

If you actually click on a race then it will give the full market prices.

Beneath that (or to the side, depending on your screen size) there will be Other Bets such as Forecast wagers that can be quickly built with a click of a button.

Mr Green Esports Review

Moving on this Mr Green bookmaker review, we will take a look at the Esports section. It is a big part of sports betting in the modern age.

As with all of the sports that can be found in the Mr Green sportsbook, the best way to access Esports is through the main sportsbook menu on the lift.

That just lists all of the live and upcoming activities in the main window. There are further links to filter what you see, so the punter can look at tournament Outrights only, for example.

When we sized up the Mr Green sportsbook betting there was good coverage of different games in the Esports section.

We found Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch and Starcraft 2 markets at the time when we browsed around.

There were plenty of matches available in each of the disciplines as well, and there was action from all around the world.

Just as an example we found Dota 2 action from Poland, and a Counter-Strike match from Australia. So there was superb Esports Betting coverage.

Looking into individual Esports matches there was good stuff as well. There were nine different Map bets available for a European Counter-Strike match that we looked at, including Round Handicap, Outcome & Total Rounds, First to 5 Rounds etc.

We left feeling that there was some really good market action happening at Mr Green for Esports. That included live betting on matches as well. So all in all, it definitely goes into the book as being one of their strengths.

Mr Green North American Sports

We looked further afield in the Mt Green review to see what their action was like on the big North American sports markets like baseball and basketball. This is another good area in which they ranked well with us when it came down to things.

NHL Ice Hockey, NBA Basketball, MLB Baseball and NFL American Football were all covered with an excellent range of options.

In NFL betting, we found a lot of futures when we looked around. That was during the off-season in the middle of the year.

So in our opinion, that was a good thing to see, without outrights on Conferences and Super Bowl winners. Another good aspect of the North American sports betting action at Mr Green was the lines that we found on the NHL matches.

There were a lot of options on the totals and handicaps for matches. All in all, there was just a very well rounded package of sports betting to be had at Mr Green and that came across extremely well in the live betting department as well.

Mr Green Novelty Markets Review

Mr Green has some non-sport options available in their sportsbook. There is a TV & Novelty section of their sportsbooks to get stuck into. One of those is Politics which we found to be a surprisingly large market.

The big focus was on the USA and UK Election markets, but looking down the list there was great coverage from other political scenes like Germany, Norway and Brazil.

Naturally, it was the USA and the UK Political markets that brought up the highest amount of markets on things like Next Lib Dem leader, or Next US President.

There were also some very good markets in the TV & Novelty section of the sportsbook. Some nice unique betting options were found there, such as the number of Hot Days (25 degrees or more) in Finland.

Most of the usual TV fare that a punter would expect to see, like Big Brother and Britain’s Got Talent were all in there. There were more than enough non-sports markets knocking around to help the Mr Green sportsbook score well with us.

Summary

So to pen a summary of Mr Green sports betting, we have to sing a fairly favourable tune. We very much enjoyed the simplicity and fluid nature of their layout within the sportsbook.

It always felt that there was just a little more to look at all the time, like having direct access to league outright markets when looking at individual football matches.

Football, racing and Esports were very well represented with variety and market options and there is plenty of live-action going on as well.

So in our experience, there was a lot to enjoy about the Mr Green sportsbook.

It’s very simple to get around. The betting slip is nice and clean, as well as being responsive. It clearly showed cash out options there, which we will look at in more detail in this review.

Odds Comparison/Betting Margins

Now a look at the odds and betting margins that we came across at Mr Green. Bringing back into focus some action from the Bundesliga, one of the big five European League.

In a big derby match between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, there was a 7% bookie margin running on the outright odds there.

In terms of the odds that were presented for the match, they were comparable to some of the other major bookies.

We didn’t find many examples around where the bookmaker margin was particularly low or noteworthy for punters. It’s easy enough to throw them into the general average of what you would expect from most bookies.

So that’s the most we can say about them really. There was no sense of really being sold short on odds value anywhere across the sports that we looked at.

Other Mr Green Offers

The Mr Green website is not one that is replete with a tremendous amount of betting offers, besides the welcome bonus.

So that is something to weigh up if you are a punter who likes to dive heavily in promotional features. That aside there is still such a good sportsbook operation that they run and you can kick it all off with the free bet welcome bonus.

In-play betting 7/10

In-play betting

There is in-play betting available at Mr Green. Any modern bookmaker would be pretty remiss not to have it. So it’s not really a feature, it is a staple of online bookmaking.

The quality of the in-play betting can be judged on just how much of it there is on the site. What sports does it cover and what is the market variety like within.

Like all of the Mr Green operations, live betting is quick to use. You can see price shifts early.

Depending on the sport, of course, that will determine how many live markets that there are available to get stuck into.

Again, the platform that it runs on is just so easy to navigate and clear to read. They’ve nailed user-friendliness so well.

To that end, for the next part of the Mr Green betting review, we will go and explore some of their main in-play sections.

In-Play Football

There is an extensive football section on the Mr Green sportsbook, so let’s start here for in-play action. We liked what we found in a live football match in terms of variety.

Scanning around different leagues including the Premier League, Championship and some action from China, we found a good average number of live bets available on football matches. There were generally around at least 50 to be had.

Going into an individual match for live in-play then you get the full list of bets. There is a horizontal menu that comes up to aid some navigation, meaning that it’s easy to just do Full-Time bets or Time Interval bets.

Also on the very same page for an in-play football betting, boxes were showing the score and another for the key events that had happened in the fixture.

There are a lot of statistics around Mr Green. However, they are not integrated into the page that you are looking at. Clicking a button for stats will bring up a new window through which you need to browse.

So in summary of the live in-play football betting that we found at Mr Green, it was good. The coverage is vast and the markets are easy to navigate through. Some

In-Play eSports

Another fine section that struck a chord with us with the in-play Esports. There was a good chunk of action that we found happening. Naturally, whenever it is you dip into a match, that will determine the markets available.

If you’re later into action then you may only be limited to Map 2 betting for example on a Counter-Strike live match. But there was a healthy amount of options happening in live Esports matches.

That ranked from ESports FIFA to the likes of Dota 2. There will be good Map Betting – Kills options open on CS: GO matches.

We would say that in our experience the greatest coverage did seem to happen on the big Counter-Strike matches opposed to other eSports.

In total though, just expanding on a little bit from their pre-match events on ESports, the in-play was very good. We did find the gaming aspect, as opposed to sports games like ESports FIFA, to be a bit stronger in market coverage.

Extra & Features 7/10

extras and features

So there is a good sportsbook at Mr Green. There is a decent amount of live sports betting as well.

But outside of the sportsbook what are the things that Mr Green have to accentuate the experience for players?

In this next section of the Mr Green review, we will dive into some of the extra features that can be found on the site.

Jackpot bets

There is a large number of jackpot games that can be partaken of at Mr Green. These are competition games such as Pick 3.

Breaking it down a little bit further, as football Jackpot Bets there could be found options like a pick 5 on the 1×2 market.

Or a Pick 3 on a Correct Score market. Whatever the competition is, these can be played solo or as part of a syndicate. So this is a big feature of Mr Green, offering something a little different.

Permutations can be built on a Jackpot game, but that means more lines will be created and therefore more stake. The amount of stake per line will vary between the competitions.

There is a free play section in the Jackpot Bets section at Mr Green through the usage of FreePlay tokens. Along with football, there are also horse racing jackpot games on the site. Users can also browse through syndicates to join.

This is quite a big feature and it does offer something a little different. You can see the influence of their casino and games operations coming through in this one. Small stakes can be played in an attempt to secure big jackpot wins.

Cash Out

Mr Green cash out availability means that punters can cash out active bets. As is the norm with cash out features, it is not available on all sports bets. But when it is available it offers the punter a bit of control if they want to take it.

Before the final whistle blows in a football match, for example, the cash out can be used to secure profits or minimize losses. Any bet that is available for cash out can be clearly seen on the bet slip.

So the easy access is there. Displayed will be what the current offer is for cashing out the bet.

Bet-builder

There are bet builder options available at Mr Green as well. This simply allows punters to create combo bets from the same event. An example of that would be Barcelona to win, Lionel Messi to score, Total Goals Over 3.5 goals.

The Bet Builder, when available will be listed within an individual game. This is where the bet can be tinkered with until you get it the way you want it.

Within the Mr Green bet builder, there are predetermined markets that have to be selected from.

Along with a match outright pick, among the other options are Total Goals, Both Teams To Score, Double Chance, Correct Score, Total Goals by Team, Exact WWinning Margin, 3-Way Handicaps and Goal Scorer markets.

Mr Green Statistics/Scores/Results

So there is statistics and form to be found around the Mr Green Website. The bulk of it comes from a separate window that opens. The thing that saves all of that is that it is a pretty extensive stats section.

It’s not that convenient. It would be preferable to have stats integrated right into the page of the sportsbook that was being browsed. But A click through to the stats section raises all of the available sports.

Clicking football and through to the Premier League, there is access to the full table along with form insights. There are head to head records to look through, forthcoming fixtures, teams and more. So there is a lot to digest in there.

Payment options - deposit and withdrawal methods 7/10

payment options

In this next section we take a look at the Mr Green payment and Mr Green withdrawal options that are available. As of 2020 UK Gambling Commission rules, Mr Green no longer accepts deposits via credit card.

The available deposit methods are Debit Card, Bank Transfer, Neteller, PayPal, Skrill and Paysafecard. When it comes to a minimum deposit, that will be 10 GBP regardless of what method you use for funding.

How to make a Mr Green withdrawal

To get money out of your account, first, do a Mr Green login. Then go to your profile and find the “withdraw” option in the menu.

Then you will have to select your preferred payment, but that should be set to the same method which you funded with. Enter the amount and confirm the withdrawal.

The minimum amount for a withdrawal at Mr Green is 10 GBP. It is possible to cancel a withdrawal at Mr Green. You will have to click on the ‘deposit’ button to do that.

If there is a withdrawal that is eligible to be cancelled then a pop up will appear asking if you want to cancel rather than deposit.

There are two stages to a withdrawal. Mr Green has to first approve the withdrawal. They will do their checks, which could be done in as little as a few seconds but could take longer.

Then the provider will have to approve the payment as well, which could take between 3 and 5 working days.

When it comes to account security there will be verification. A customer will have to upload documents straight to Mr Green and that could be things like a passport, drivers licence and utility bill to check for identity and address.

Bank Transfer: 1-5 Working days*
Trustly: 3-5 Working days
Skrill: Instant (Occasionally this may take up to 2 days)
Neteller: Instant (Up to 2 hours)
Paypal: Instant (Up to 2 hours)
Paysafecard: Instant (Up to 2 hours)

User-friendliness of website and mobile app/mobile version 10/10

mobile

The overall feel of the Mr Green website is fresh and light. It’s very easy to navigate around and there is plenty of spacing for legibility.

The whole set up is very simple and that just makes it work very well.

The main sportsbook menu is well organised and we found that we were never more than a couple of clicks away from finding a bet.

The colour scheme is unobtrusive, plenty of white background to help with reading, along with the touches of grey and of course, green.

All in all it’s a wonderfully fluid and functional website.

On the pages which are spread across two columns, when the browser window is narrowed it intuitively reorganises what is seen. So anything in the right-hand column goes underneath.

They have to score very well for user-friendliness does Mr Green for their website design. It’s excellent, looks good and importantly is comfortable for spending time on.

mobile

A scroll down to the bottom of any page on the Mr Green website will show the links to get a Mr Green app download. There is a link there for both iOS and for Android.

This is really where Mr Green excels. Their mobile services are excellent. They have won awards for their mobile technology. The full p[ower of the sportsbook is available on the mobile apps.

Any features that can be found on the main website like the bet builder and cash out can be done easily on the Mr Green app. It is a very quick app when it comes to browsing through markets.

In our experience, it was wonderfully responsive, as was the bet slip in controlling the bets. The live in-play layouts were great, easy to read and it’s just a very good, albeit straight forward, platform to have in your pocket.

Mr Green Customer Service & Support, Security & Reliability 8/10

There are excellent resources on the Mr Green website through which to try and get some help and support. At the bottom of any page, there is a link to the Help Centre.

That is all broken down into sections. Everything is presented very clearly and there is nothing hidden behind sign-ins. All of their payment and withdrawal methods are explained in depth.

It is one of the better help sections on a bookmaker’s website that we have come across. But something there is a need to go a little bit further and have contact with a customer support person.

Mr Green’s customer service team is on hand to answer any questions you may have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

They can be contacted via a Mr Green Live Chat, or by email at customerservice@mrgreen.com. The Mr Green number for support is +441765522017.

Our review rating: 8 / 10

Something that we didn’t touch upon in this review was Mr Green live streams. They are limited to say the least. There’s some greyhound racing, a bit of international racing and that’s about the lot.

There also isn’t much in the way of promotions for the sportsbook at the end of the day. But if you are basing things on the merit of what they do have, there is plenty to rank them highly with.

One of the standout aspects of Mr Green is their mobile apps. They really hit the right chord in the balance between simplicity and functionality. Then there is their sportsbook which is very good.

They may well have come into life as a gaming and casino operator, and they have a massive reputation in that genre.

But with a very good sportsbook now firmly established behind them, they are showing up very well in the sports betting arena now as well.
