The favourite for this sprint is METHOD at 15/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, 8th October 2020).

He scored on his first two runs, leaving a very good impression for his backers.

Things didn’t go to plan on his last trip however, a problem with the saddle scuppering his shot at a hat trick.

That was in the Middle Park here at Newmarket in September forcing him to the back of the pack. He is well worth considering to bounce straight back.

Method makes it as our top pick for this minimum distance trip.

ACKLAM EXPRESS is well worth a look as well. He showed up well against his elders on his last trip.

That was a fourth place finish he took there, a very credible effort at Doncaster. Back in this sphere of his own age, he should be able to impress.

Acklam Express nailed a hat-trick with a win at York in August.

We also like the look of ROYAL ADDRESS who warrants some respect in this contest as well. That will be putting some stock in her progressing even further.

It was a hat trick that she landed on her last run, completing the accomplishment at Chantilly on a 5f trip in soft conditions.

The market is tight here without question. The current landscape has three joint 3/1 favourites in THINKING OF YOU, NAZUNA and SAFFRON BEACH* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, 8th October 2020).

THINKING OF YOU scored a good win on her debut with plenty to spare. She then went in Group 3 company at the Curragh 12 days ago and put in a respectable third place finish there.

More progress is going to come. She’s proven herself on the soft and makes it as our pick.

NAZUNA was a runner up in the Rockfel Stakes, over course and distance two weeks ago. So that was something special and easily gives her claims for this contest.

The conditions may not be in her favour too much, but she is still on an upward curve.

SAFFRON BEACH comes into just her second run. She scored a good course and distance debut a couple of weeks ago.

She was very good for it as well. This is a tougher race for Saffron Beach but she warrants some respect on the back of that debut effort.

The other contender that we would have to look for here would be SHINE FOR YOU. She rattled the crossbar on her debut at Kempton.

Then she picked up a win in a minor event at Leicester over 7f. That was on firmer ground however and she takes on better company here. Will the drop in trip help her?

It is KHALOOSY at the head of the market here at a quote of 9/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, 8th October 2020). He may be running out of chances with backers up in Group company.

He scored big in the Britannia at Royal Ascot in June. In his two follow up races since then, he hasn’t been back to that top level.

He’s probably not worth abandoning yet especially on a drop in trip. It may not take much for her to get back on track.

HAPPY POWER looks to be in good heart at the moment having taken back to back wins. The 4 year old has struck in his last two efforts.

The most recent of those was in a Group 3 trip at Goodwood on a 7f trip. That was in soft conditions as well, so that puts him in the frame.

The other for the shortlist in his one is GLORIOUS JOURNEY who got a win at Newbury on his last run. That was a good return to form for him as well.

That Newbury score was in a Listed fixture and he looked nice and bold in it. He collected a Group 2 win in Dubai in January.

It has been two wins and two runners-up places so far from her. It’s impressive stuff she has produced.

Her last two battles have been against Shale, beating her rival in a Group 2 run at the Curragh. The tables were turned on her in a rematch at the Moyglare.

That is three previous meetings that they have had and they have dominated their contests.

SHALE has won three of her last four runs, the only slip coming at the aforementioned duel with Pretty Gorgeous at the Curragh.

Despite that miss in the Debutante Stakes, the form of Shale has been superb. She could set the standard here over the mile.

He is sitting on a hat trick at the moment and looks like a strongly progressive colt.

There could be more to come from him, even though he takes on a 6lb rise in the ratings. It has been a strong season from her and her form has come to a peak.

But he is not the only one sitting on a hattrick, so he faces some strong players.

LUNCIES is open to more progress and after back to back wins as well. She gets a 6lb penalty and it will be interesting to see how she does back here. She was heavily beaten in a Listed race here in June, but has responded well since.

With Oisin Murphy in the saddle BRILLIANT LIGHT is a key contender as well for this race. She showed very well on her debut with a second-place finish.

With a score at Sandown on her handicap debut under her belt there is a lot of promise. The extra trip will help and she is our pick at 7/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, 8th October 2020).

Another in this big field is DOUBLING DICE, who is another on a hattrick. He will have to defy a 6lb penalty after scoring a good handicap debut last time out.

Granted this is a little stiffer of a contest, especially with the penalty. But an interesting player nonetheless.
