Race Favourite

The race favourite for this big Uttoxeter field is DONALD DUX at 5/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He has escaped a penalty after picking up a win on his last run.

That was at Newcastle 8 days ago when he put in a storming finish over the hurdles in that one.

It was a wide margin 16l victory that Donald Dux took. He will probably take some stopping if he’s back in that kind of mood.

He has really kicked on now this season since wind surgery and he has to be on the shortlist for the contest.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

GLENCOUM LASS is likely to be in the picture as well after scoring well in a Uttoxeter handicap.

She is still well in the handicap here even with the 7lb penalty that the mare has for this run. Another bold run is fully expected this one.

That was a course and distance success that she just nailed and she enjoys the heavy conditions.

AH WELL is going to be the other one that we are going to name for the shorts in this contest.

He has taken back to back third-place finishes, so has been in the mix. Ah Well stays at the same mark as he was for his last run 21 days ago which was a 3m handicap.

If he hadn’t hung out left he probably would have been a lot closer than third in that one.

KILBREW BOY heads the field in this one at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He will be looking to secure a double after scoring at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago.

There has been a rise in the ratings for him, but there is still plenty of room for him to work within handicapping.

He looked comfortable in getting that Wincanton with a little to spare. We would expect a similarly strong follow-up performance.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DIAMOND BRIG is not to be dismissed from this one either who scored on his first run for Henry Oliver.

That was a course and distance success that he put on the board. He will be dealing with a 5lb rise in the rating, but he looked to have plenty in hand.

Diamond Brig just makes it as our 7/4 selection* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

There was a positive effort, Duhallow Lad, last time out.

He took a second palace finish at Bangor, looking to have benefitted from a previous reappearance run.

We don’t think that the depth in this market is that great, so there should be a competitive edge from Duhallow Lad to have place claims.

SAINT DALINA is the current and strong 11/10 favourite for this run* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

She opened the season with a reappearance run which yielded a second-place finish, unfortunate not to score there.

She doesn’t have a penalty after scoring over course and distance 10 days ago. So that means we expect Saint Dalina to be tough to knock over.

She got off the mark at Ffos Las on the final run of the previous campaign. Saint Dalina has opened in some very strong style since. Conditions will suit.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CLOSING CEREMONY is worth a look here as she is down 7lb from her most recent win.

The question mark will be whether or not he will complete as he has not managed to do so in his last four.

But there are very interesting claims there. His most recent was over course and distance 10 days ago. A clean round and he’s good enough to feature.

We would also expect IMPERIAL ICON to be in the mix in this one. On his second handicap effort he took on extra in trip and it suited him well.

Imperial Icon took the win at Hereford on his latest run 23 days ago. Knowing that he handles the trip is going to mean that he gets on the shortlist.

Race Favourite

This is the race of the day and SOARING GLORY is the current 11/4 FAV* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

It has been a good season so far from him, having opened with a win. That was on his hurdles debut at Chepstow.

Soaring Glory followed that up with a very strong run as well at Newbury, only finding another smart prospect too good for him on the day.

He would likely have scored on his latest run, his third go of the season, but fell when looking well-positioned 2 out. There are big claims.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

This is a cracking race with LLANDINABO LAD up there at 3/1 as well* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He is sitting on a hat-trick for the season. He made his reappearance nailing a hurdles debut after 11 months ago.

Llandinabo Lad then struck a follow up in a Listed fixture at Haydock. It’s been impressive stuff and there could be more to come.

MY DROGO looks to be the other big player in this field. This will be his third go after opening with a second palace finish in a Cheltenham bumper.

He then delivered on his first go over the hurdles at Newbury 3 weeks ago.

My Drogo looks to be a tremendous prospect and it’s going to be fascinating to see how he handles this tough field.

DO IT FOR THE SEN is the current 5/2 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He picked up a second-place finish on his most recent run and moved up 5lb since then.

He really looked like winning that recent trip, which was at Ffos Las last month but his jumping let him down a little bit at the end.

But still, the successful pointer looks, in general, to have taken to the fences well enough. The six-year-old should prove stamina in this cracking race.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

SHANTY ALLEY has been knocking on the door recently and the handicap seems to have been leaning on his side a bit for this one.

It has been back to back third-place finishes for him in this campaign.

But he looks lively and is also taking a drop in class. If he’s in the mood, then he is likely to be in the picture.

The final selection for the shorts is CITY NEVER SLEEPS who got off the mark in October over course and distance.

So that’s a big plus for him in going up the novices’ in this run.

He never managed to follow up that success over the fences, disappointing on his next run. But the potential is there to put it together.

Race Favourite

FIDDLERONTHEROOF is the 5/2 favourite for this Grade 2 contest at Ascot on Friday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

It has been a good strong season from him, having been in the frame in all three runs.

His one success for the season happened in his penultimate race when he got his first win over the fences at Exeter last month.

He followed that up with a second-place at Newbury in a very warm contest and found only Caribean Boy too good in that one.

Fiddlerontheroof is a big player here and is on the up.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

PIC D’ORHAY is to be respected as well. He has taken to the fences well and put in a second-place finish at Newbury in good time three weeks ago on his reappearance run.

He took a tumble over course and distance on his follow up four weeks ago.

Pic D’rshay doesn’t look to be too far away from something big and the conditions will be on his side.

He goes as our selection at 5/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

We would also have interest in BOLD PLAN as there looks to be more to come from him as well.

He has looked untroubled on the switch to fences from the hurdles.

Bold Plan banked a win on his last run, scoring at Exeter in fine style having come on strong at the finish.

Bold Plan looks to be an exciting prospect in this sphere.

We are mixing things up with a look at an NH Flat race in this one.

STAGE STAR is the current 6/4 favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

This will be his second racetrack appearance having scored a win at Chepstow on his debut.

There is a jump in grade for the Paul Nicholls charge, but he looks good.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

KNAPPER HILL also looks to be one to watch in the contest having looked very impressive in getting off the mark at the first attempt in a Chepwsow bumper.

He looks to have enough to get in the frame easily enough in the contest.

The other contender is going to be WONDERWALL who has a course and distance under his belt.

That was last month on his racetrack debut and looks to be built very well. He had to dig in at the finish to get that score but retains potential.
