Queen Anne Stakes History
The first-ever edition of the Queen Anne Stakes was established in 1840 and it was not until 1930 that it took on its current moniker.
Queen Anne, who founded Ascot, had the race named in her honour.
The race was bumped up to Group 3 in the early 70s and then to Group 2 in the mid-eighties.
In 2003 it claimed its current Group 1 status and it was that year in which the minimum entry age was raised to four.
To this date, no horse has won the Queen Anne Stakes on more than one occasion.
Baaeed 1/5 FAV in Queen Anne Stakes Racing Odds
The brilliant and undefeated BAAEED looks to be the hot ticket for punters in this year’s Queen Anne Stakes racing odds at 1/5* (odds recorded at 18:54 GMT on March 14th, 2022 at Coral).
The Wilie Haggas-trained colt has won all seven appearances so far and is clearly lining up as the one to beat in the Royal Ascot opener.
Baaeed has had a primer for this one, taking out Real World by more than three lengths in mid-May at the Lockinge Stakes (Group 1).
He has proven himself at the top level on three occasions now.
On Tuesday he will face six rivals and on paper at least he looks to have the beating of them all.
Favourites have had a good track record in the Queen Anne recently, as there have been six favourites win across the last ten editions.
Queen Anne Stakes Betting Contenders
Godolphin challenger REAL WORLD has some work to do to try and overturn his rival Baaeed in this one.
After having gone off as the joint-favourite alongside Baaeed for the Lockinge, he was comfortably beaten.
For Queen Anne Stakes odds, Real World is the current second favourite at 8/1* (odds recorded at 18:54 GMT on March 14th, 2022 at Coral)
Real World opened the year with a win at Meydan but hasn’t been able to follow up since.
He was red-hot last year, winning all four appearances, the highest of which was Group 2.
But can he come up with something special to topple Baaeed?
CHINDIT is a very interesting one going in this one as he does possess the ability to make his presence felt.
There was a win for him at the start of the season, which was in the Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed).
He was also involved in the Lockinge at Newbury, landing in third place behind the other two aforementioned runners.
SIR BUSKER was fifth in the Lockinge, really the big race to read form from when looking at Queen Anne Stakes Odds at Royal Ascot.
Sir Busker is a former course and distance winner, but his winless streak since the summer of 2020 rolls on.
LIGHTS ON goes for Sir Miacehl Sought after taking a win in that Goru p2 Bet365 Mile. However, the trainer hasn’t won this since 2002.
However, there have only been two fillies/mares landing the Queen Anne in the last 47 renewals.

Queen Anne Stakes Tips Favourites – Royal Ascot betting
The nature of this race really does lean towards having a preference for those at the head of the betting market.
Six of the last ten renewals of the Queen Anne Stakes have been won by the favourite on the day.
Last year’s winner Palace Pier for the job done as a 2/7 odds-on favourite.
Three of the last seven winners of the Queen Anne have done so at odds-on.
Looking back even further there have been just three winners of the Queen Anne since 1995 to have not been in the first four in the betting market.
Queen Anne Stakes Trends
We do need some trends to look through ahead of Queen Anne Stakes betting for Royal Ascot 2022.
As mentioned above, favourites have been doing well, and we also need to look at some of the trends coming from the Lockinge.
15 of the last 26 editions of the Queen Anne Stakes was won by a horse that had failed to win that season’s Lockinge Stakes.
All but four of the last 19 winners of this Royal Ascot race had previously handed a Group 1 win.
Our betting experts are digging through the stats and have produced some key areas for Queen Anne Stakes to watch for.
Queen Anne Stake Trends Royal Ascot
- The last 20 renewals were won by a horse that carried less than 129lb last time out
- Each of the 20 Queen Anne renewals were won by a horse that had previously had at least three wins
- All but one of the last 20 renewals were won by either a 4 or 5-year-old

Queen Anne Stakes Trainer & Jockey Trends
Where are we at in terms of the jockeys and trainers to follow in this one for Queen Anne Stakes tips?
The most successful trainer in the last 20 renewals is Aiden O’Brien. He’s won four times.
O’Brien has Order Of Australia going for him in the 2022 renewal.
But horses running their season debut in the Queen Anne generally haven’t done great.
Those are the only two active trainers with more than one winner in the last 20 renewals of the Queen Anne Stakes.
The all-time leading trainer in the race is Saeed bin Suroor who has seen seven winners home, but none since Ramonti in 2007.
On the jockey stats, there are four active jockeys each with one win each. Those are Ryan Moore, Daniel Tudhope, William Buick and Charles Bishop.
Jim Crowley, who is booked on Baaeed has one place finish from five previous attempts.
The all-time leading jockey is Frankie Dettori with seven victories, the latest of those coming last year on the back of Palace Pier.
Queen Anne Stakes Tips & Predictions Royal Ascot 2022
Unfortunately, punters may struggle to get some change out of this Queen Anne renewal at Royal Ascot.
BAAEED is the obvious big player here at 1/5 odds-on* (odds recorded at 18:54 GMT on March 14th, 2022 at Coral).
He had most of these comfortably behind him at the Lockinge, the key trial for this one.
It’s not evident where the tables are going to get turned.
Is Baaeed set to be the best we’ve seen since Frankel? Better?
In terms of those who can fill out the spots, there is the obvious selection of REAL WORLD.
LIGHTS ON on may not be the worst outsider chance in Queen Anne Stakes betting.
Sir Michael Stoute’s mare did take the Bet365 Mile and piques interest at 28/1 each way* (odds recorded at 18:54 GMT on March 14th, 2022 at Coral)
