Today’s horse racing tips for Saturday look at a busy day of action on the Flat with some top action around the UK.

There are a lot of top fixtures coming up from Newbury and we have individual race previews for some of the bigger runs.

 

 

For this racing preview, we bring the best tips of the day from Haydock, Musselburgh and a Group 3 fixture from Newbury.

It is an exciting day of action on the level as the Flat season really kicks into gear this weekend.

There are going to be some credentials for this year’s Classic proven on the weekend.

So here are the best of today’s horse racing tips for Saturday, 16th April 2022.

BAVINGTON BOB brings some red-hot form to the table on the weekend in this Haydock Challenger Staying Chase Series Final Handicap Chase.

He completed a four-timer with a score at Kelso 12 days ago.

He has been moved up 9lb for that recent score.

Bavington Bob has been getting better and better moving the fences and looks to be the one to beat.

There is going to be a question mark perhaps with this being a quick turnaround.

But he’s got proven staying form and warrants massive respect.

QUARTZ DU RHEU has delivered a good campaign, taking three wins around the 3m distance.

So he can’t be counted out of things and returns refreshed after a break of about four months.

The last run for Quartz Du Rheu saw him take a third-place finish at Newbury in December.

Quartz Du Rheu comes from a yard that is in good shape at the moment.

ENQARDE has taken to the fences quite well and a big course and distance score in December puts him in this one.

He was last seen in the Grand National Trial here at the venue, in February and it wasn’t the best of runs before being pulled up in ground that was probably too soft.

Race Preview

HURRICANE HARVEY piques some interest in this contest after showing signs of a revival last time out.

He took a third-place finish in a handicap hurdle at Newbury 43 days ago, running well.

He warrants some respect in the fixture.

AN TAILLIUR is one of the big players in this contest who was just superb over the first half of this campaign, racking up win after win

The sixth of his wins happened at Taunton in November and he has been on a break since a runner-up effort at Kempton in December.

Fully recharged, An Tailliur is naturally a big threat in this fixture.

SULTAN’S PRIDE completed a hattrick earlier this season and continues to pose a good threat.

It’s been a couple of very strong seasons back to back for Sultan’s Pride. His hat-trick was delivered at Doncaster in March.

He went well again with a runner-up finish at Kelso three weeks ago. Another consistently bold bid should be made by him.

ZABEEL CHAMPION is expected to go well on the weekend as he returns from a small break for a couple of months.

He was very good in flat handicapping and kicked off life over the hurdles with a successful success at Leicester on a 2m trip in November.

Zabeel Champion nearly followed up there at the same venue on his next run.

He was in the mix until a late mistake undid him on his handicap debut at Carlisle.

KANNAPOLIS showed some nice form in landing a win at Huntingdon three weeks ago.

The race did fully go in his favour in that one, but it was still a good winning experience.

There’s only been a rise of 1lb for him for that win.

Kannapolis has been lightly worked this season, so fresh legs mean that he cannot be completely ruled out of contention.

OAKLEY is another winner from last time out as he took a win at Stratford in a handicap hurdle a month ago.

That was such a good win that he comes up 6lb so more will be demanded of him.

There’s enough in his old form to suggest that he can handle it.

15:14 Musselburgh Queen’s Cup Horse Racing Tip

THEMAXWECAN is not to be counted out of the running in this one as he makes his reappearance run.

He won this race last year and tallied up a 2m score at a Goodwood handicap and is a good versatile one.

Themaxwecan is back on last year’s winning mark.

HMS PRESIDENT signed off the previous campaign with a poor effort in November on a handicap.

But looking at the form before that, there is plenty to suggest that HMS President can make his presence felt.

HMS President looks to be on a good mark.

ZERO TEN was last seen taking on a Group 1 flat fixture at Longchamp on his final start.

He has been away for 174 days, but regarded could have a say in this. Zero Ten will benefit from a 7lb claimer and has a stack of ability.

SIR RUMI is another to consider for the shortlist in this one after having had a recent run under his belt.

That was a credible runner up spot in a Doncaster editions event. Now on the move back to the handicapping Sir Rumi warrants respect.

ZARZYNI has been in solid form this season, taking a runner up spot in each of his three runs.

The latest of those was at Wolverhampton a month ago.

The cheekpieces now go on for the first time and he looks likely to be involved.

FINE WINE has the form behind him to get in the thick of this one and fully merits consideration despite a quick turnaround.

He was a runner up in just five days in a handicap at Pontefract. That was on a bid for a hat trick so there’s nothing wrong with Fine Wine’s form.

RAASEL brings a winning streak to the table as he looks to make it a six-timer with Saturday’s run.

It was five wins in eight runs that he banked last year.

The latest of those was at Nottingham 164 days ago and had more left in the tank getting it.

13:50 Newbury Surprise Stakes Horse Racing Tip

MAX VEGA is fully respected in this contest after finishing as a runner up on his latest effort.

That was a course and distance effort in October, finding only Ilaraab too good for him on the day. Max Vega is likely to be close.

ILARAAB claimed a win at the course and distance in October in the St Simon Stakes, getting the better of Max Vega.

He returns for his first run of the season. He won his opening fixture of the previous campaign so has formed from fresh.

Ilarrab comes from a top yard and it’s two wins from three previous appearances at Newbury so is expected to go well.

THUNDEROUS was last seen in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot in June in which he took a fourth-place finish.

That was a run that was full of credit.

The former Dante winner has the ability and he handled himself overall very well in pattern company last season.

Tip: ILARAAB 10/3
